SOURCE: Tv cuts off and green light flashes

If your set was manufactured around July 2005, you may need a firmware upgrade to solve this issue. On the Sony website you can enter your model # and serial # to see if you TV is affected. If so, it is easy to have done and may be free from Sony. It sounds like the issue they described in the writeup on the required formware update. I had mine done within few months of when i bought it (purchased in Dec 2005) and it has been working flawlessly since.

Good luck!

Power supply is the place to look, look for bulging on top of the capacitors in the secondary side of the main power supply.

I have power but no picture

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

TV not turning on

I can almost guarantee the issue is caused by faulty capacitors in the power supply but it is not something I recommend you to work on yourself because there is a danger of electric shock.
The capacitors will have dried out and there are lots of companies now selling power supply refurbishment kits but this does mean de-soldering and re-soldering a selection of components and if the de-soldering is not done properly, it is easy to rip electrical plating out and effectively make the power supply scrap.

I estimate a local TV repair company would charge for about 1 hour labour and parts cost and would be reasonably priced at about 50-70 UK Pounds.

Hard to get started when powering up to watch.

definitely, something wrong with it. TV shouldn't take more then a few seconds to start, I suggest, while it still under warranty, give Sharp a call to get it fixed.

Power button Flashes

For the first one, please list the model number and count the blinks. Also, can you please post each problem separately. It will get too confusing trying to address 3 sets with different but similar problems.
Thanks,

Power light flashing/ no picture

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.
