contact the passport authority and tell them the passport is stolen. give them all the detail that ask for and ask for a replacement. they should replace the passport but the number ill be different or have extra wording on it. you may need to make a police incident number so you will have to contact the police, if in UK you need to do this first. you will be given a number and while on the phone or at the office for passports give them this number to add to the file that will be made.

There are all the chances that you will get caught for getting a second passport, which is culpable as one person, one passport is the policy in all countries. And also you have not mentioned if you traveled abroad on the old one. If yes, then all the more reason that you must have it.
I would recommend that you ask the passport authorities after telling them the truth. They will, I am sure, help you locate the old records and help you get a new one. Thruth never hurts, but if you try to hoodwink them then in today's computerized world, you will get caught and penalized. Also, a police complaint is required if the lost passport had still not expired.

Do you have your owner's manual? It will tell you where the dipstick is to check tranny fluid level and will tell you where to put the fluid as well. If you do not have an owner manual you can drive to Autozone or some other large auto parts supply house and one of their techs should be more than happy to assist you, they do it here for free.
