Compare the manufacturing dates and if remote is older, it is normal. If not, ask Samsung. Good chance

SOURCE: HDMI - no output Samsung P1600 BD

the hdmi output generally needs activating through the menu system. im assuming you havent already done this.
connect it with whatever cable works and navigate through to the menu system to select the hdmi output.
failing that it might be the hdmi cable is an older cable not capable of supporting ver1.3

SOURCE: DVD playback distorted in Samsung BD-P1600 Blu-ray Player

I called Samsung with the same issue. After verifying the latest firmware was installed, they suggested I send the unit in for service. I expect it back sometime this week, and DVD playback will be the first thing I test.

SOURCE: how do i hook up

Here is a video instruction on how to hook up the P1600 model to Net Flix.

A firmware update may be required to get NetFlix on the P1500 model.
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/BD-P1500
Otherwise, I have seen little information on the P1500 supporting NetFlix.
Please give feedback for this answer, thanks.

Just hooked up new samsung bd p1600 remote and play will not work

Your not alone. I went into the menu system manually to setup clock and language and other options. I had to download and install the upgraded firmware available from the website, and then to disable the anytime+ samsung feature...then suddenly after hours, and after the samsung help line told me to return the unit, it worked.
good luck

Blu-ray player no longer connects to network to view Netflix

First check the securty settings on the router. Most of these units use 64 bit/128bit configurations. Just this little change can make things work. Try changeing the security to 64/bit encription.

Let me know how this does.

Unstable at start up

I assume you have a wireless or Ethernet connection for your BDP1600? It may not be working and the first thing your player needs to do is get a firmware update and this won't happen if you do not have an Internet connection. If you do have an Internet connection, look to see if there is some sort of "software update" button somewhere within the tv-based menu system.
