Do you mean to do a Factory Reset?
HP Recovery Manager can be accessed from the Start Menu, or by tapping F11 key as soon as you power on the laptop. Recovery Manager is used to reinstall back to factory specs_also used to make a Recovery Disk set (or to a Flash Drive)
A system restore is actually as per factory setting. You will or should end up with the laptop just like the first day you got it.You won't have any of your stuff on it any more though. you will lose your picture and other documents during the process. If you are thinking of a system rollback which some versions call a restore that un-installs updates and other bits that might be causing problems.
To do a factory on an hp you just press F11 during boot or select it from the boot screen if that is set to show. It then asks if this is what you want to do and wipes everything out before setting up the operating system again. You can also boot from your restore dvd. This can either be a factory provided or ones you did when you first got the system. If you have Vista you may find the boot restore and the restore disks are useless. I've had several hps with that problem happening on top of the original issues. There were defaults in the files and the only way to fix was to order a new dvd from HP.
Past these basic things you can do you may have to take it to the shop as more software/tools will be required.

1. Do a BIOS memory test, to check your notebook memory. 2. If OK, make a system backup of your current installation on an external medium. (just in case you want it back later) 3. Recover the factory setup installation and check the keyboard if it is working OK. 4. If not, the mainboard of the notebook is probably faulty.
If you bought a new SATA and get a blue screen when you install win. server 2003, you have to go to BIOS and change HD setting. (not on 1st page for sure. I have to what option you have.)
Or
You have to get it from HP, but I don't know whether they have or they will give you for free.
The (G56-129wm) celeron processor. if this is your model no it doesnt... Let me know the 3digit numbers and letters after g56 the example is above in parenthesis i can tell more clearly if you will do this
