with the remote press the the menu and on the screen move around until you find aspect ratio This makes the picture wider higher or fatter
Select the size that fits your screen, press save then exit.
You can play with the Display settings and see what suits you. Try 1280 x 768 - How ever you can buy a Wide LCD Monitor. This will surely make picture display better

Are you using a cable box? Do you have aspect settings on your remote? Comcast cable boxes have a hd zoom button. This will push the sides of the picture out
