Check that ur laptop has the sound driver installed on ur desktop riht click on my computer select properties then select device manager locate ur sound driver right click it then select uninstall when it uninstalls restart ur laptop it should automatically install sound driver back if not go to www.drivermax.com adownload drivermaxx scan ur pc for the latest drivers and ur ready to install them but be carefull free users can only download 2 drivers per day so use it wisely good luck.

In all the laptops the HDMI sends only the video. If you want to send the sound you will have to use the analogue audio outputs - line out of your laptop has it (some allow the headphone jack to be configured as one) or just the headphone jack. You will need a cable like

I dont know about which sound driver dedect this laptop ive searched but failed

for one to be of any help the brand and model of laptop would help. another thing would be any other specifics such as in the case of an ibm thinkpad z60m there are actually 3 or 4 types of a z60m laptop.

Lost sound

you probably dont have the driver, go the start and right click on my computer, go to properties and click on device manager.

look for a yellow triangle, if you have these you have no sound card driver....... go to dell website and click on support.

Acer laptop sound problem

Go the the acer website and download all the new sound drivers!

you have most likely had a windows update and its knocked out the sound drivers, this done this with my wireless card

Cant get sound via hdmi connection from acer 6920g laptop

go into control pannel and acer hd set it there and also in sound, a wee bit of trial and error but its there. mine was the same, it cost me ouch on the phone! good luck mine works ok
