Why did my serpentine belt come off after I put it on? managed to get the serpentine belt on my 92 grand marquis but later when I went to leave I discovered the belt had come off. Do I need to tighten something?

The trick is to wrap the belt around all the grooved pulleys first and leave the smooth idler pulleys for last. Then the belt can just slip on the smooth pulley
Move the Grand Marquis's serpentine belt tensioner off the serpentine belt with the serpentine belt tool. Pull the belt of the remaining pulleys by hand. Take the belt out of the engine well. Wrap the new belt around the bottom portion of the crankshaft pulley.
Follow the belt routing diagram to route the belt over each remaining
pulley until only the tensioner remains. Move the Grand Marquis's serpentine belt tensioner aside once more and slip the belt onto the tensioner pulley.Hold the belt in place with one hand while you move the tensioner slowly back into position with the other. If it IS a serpentine belt, the tensioner should be fairly tightly spring loaded (if it is still in good condition), so if the belt is not getting tight, (and the tensioner is in good condition), you must be misrouting the belt. There is only ONE WAY the belt can be properly installed.
A serpentine belt has a spring loaded belt tensioner-no adjustment.
Each v-belt has its own separate belt tensioner which must be mechanically adjusted for tightness.
Is there still a sticker on your hood or by the fan shroud showing the proper belt routing for reference?
