It is always fully charged when I leave home and has not come across any substantial rain (slight drizzle only). It is kept in the garage in dry, clean conditions. The battery still shows in green on the dial when the malfunction beep goes off. I have had it for 3 weeks second hand and this has only happened in the past few days - could be as simple as needing new batteries or something worse? I have also noticed it doesn't go the right speed I set it to - it goes slower than it should. My husband had a look under the casing with the manual and can't see anything obviously wrong - help! Like many disabled people this is the only way I can get out of the house other than by car! I have been using it on the same route so it shouldn't be cutting out. I have had a bit of a bump after using ramps on the car which turned out to be not suitable for the ramps just before so don't know if that could have affected something? I want to take it to the shop down the road which supply mobility scooter batteries and see if they can test it? Obviously the person on e-bay where I bought claimed the batteries were in perfect condition holding charge well, so I really wasn't expecting this.
I sold an electric wheelchair which had been standing a long time to another person. Before selling it, I took it for a spin down the road. The chair did about 100 metres before running out of charge. We did in fact charge the wheelchair weekly to keep the battery healthy. I had to replace the battery before handing over the wheelchair to the lady. In my opinion, I think you need a new battery. There are technicians who can check batteries to see if they hold charge. See if you can Google one close to you who can assist.
SOURCE: pride mobility scooter. turn key on it keeps
Are you sure that it not in FREEWHELL mode, lever at the back, Regards
SOURCE: lil rascal stopped again
make sure you hands are not touching the forward or reverse lever when you insert the key. many times if you have your finger or thumb touching the lever just a tid, the scooter will only move a little then stop, or not work at all. this is a safty. Usally I change out the throttle pot and the Key switch (speed pot) together. As for the price, He didn't over charge you if the 150.00 included his labor. Ask if he can replace the throttle if the product is less then 30 days old. But be prepaird to pay shipping and his labor for replacing the first one.

SOURCE: I have purchased new batteries for my mobility
The control seems to be the issue. I have rewired so many scooters. When you have power and it wont go, it is usually the control. If you cannot afford the part right away, you can rewire it or have it rewired direct

Hi Linda. Sometimes if there is a blown fuse or faulty connector on the battery leads, the charger thinks the batteries are charged as the voltage coming out of the charger rises to the high level. Some chargers will cut out if this happens. It is probably not the charger.
Make sure the batteries are plugged in correctly, sometimes during transport they will get knocked and become disconnected.
Also make sure that the battery terminals are not loose where the wires connect to the batteries.
Good luck. Neil.
