Hello, I was wondering what board is responsible for the function of switching channels.

Depending largely on the age of the TV, the location of the TV tuner varies. An older analog TV tapping a digital signal does so with an external DTV converter box. For cable and satellite subscribers, there is a a set top box. Most TVs purchased after March 2007 have built-in digital tuners. Look on the front and back of the TV for a marking that indicates a digital tuner. It may say ATSC, DTV, HDTV, Digital Ready, HD Ready, Digital Tuner, Digital Receiver, Digital Tuner Built-in or Integrated Digital Tuner. Any of these is an indication that the TV has a built-in digital tuner. You may have to go to the manufacturer's site to determine such specifications. If you are having a problem with a tv switching channels, remedies may be rather specific and you might try googling for a specific model while including the problem in a simple phrase.

No TV broadcast picture. Is this a tuner problem?

yes it does seem to be a tuner problem , I also wonder what happens when you use the auto channel finder and tuner usually found in the set up section of the menu ? As well as was your TV working before and receiving input via the antennae but has now stopped working in this regard ? I also noted that attaching an analog to digital converter box worked fine , so your TV is capable of receiving a signal via that method , dose the converter box use your antennae input jack or a video jack to send the converted signal into your TV ? if it is using your antennae jack then it may not be a tuner problem .

I have INSIGNIA TV 42"

Hi shaan99,
There's some shop that expertised in tv tuner repair. But this shop is very hard to find and sometimes the cost will be the same like the original price of it. You can replaced the tuner by yourself, all you have to do is prepare soldering iron, disoldering pump and soldering lead and the tuner replacement http://cgi.ebay.com/ENV56S02D8F-TV-TUNER-/230591288708?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35b04fd584#ht_500wt_949.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

Dose my tv (Hisense TL3000) is hd-tv ready

Not all units were fitted with the DTV tuner before the switch over occurred. you set should have an insignia that sates that it is DTV ready. if this insignia is not on the box or actual set, you will need a converter box to receive this DTV signal.

What can a tv tuner do, dose it work on a blank

A tv tuner card is a device usually inserted into a computer screen or tower. this device has a "Coaxial Cable" jack in the back so that "Cable" can be hooked into the monitor. Along with this most come with an input selector. this enables you to switch between tv and computer with the push of a button.

My Sources ( I simply Google'd "What does a tv tuner card do") (lol just so i dont answer incorrectly and look like a fool lol.

OK GL!

and btw i have one and love it! it came in my monitor and i didnt think of it much till my TV went out on me. after hooking up the coaxial i havent gone without for a while :)

PS ive got built in speakers in my monitor. when i turn cable on it comes through them. the nice thing is my USB headset stays sending sound from my PC (so if im running a scan ill heard the BEEP at the end and know its done :)

GL

any further clarification required just comment and ill check back

***A TV Tuner Card NEEDS cable to be input into it. You cannot connect to the net or run it off your pc :S

No HD

the digital tuner needs to be checked for soldering connections and if that don't fix it then you will need to get a new digital tuner.put in. but you can unplug the tv from the wall plug for a little while and that may help but if not then it will need to be checked for bad soldering or it will need to be replaced

Has integrated digital tuner?

This tv looks to old for that. Tv's only had digital tuners put in them, starting in 2006. All tv's in 2007 had digital tuners.

No HD

Your TV has a built in tuner but NOT a built in antenna. Depending on where you live (distance from broadcasters) you will need to add anywhere from rabbit ears (with the UHF loop) to an antenna on the roof or mast.

If your home already has an antenna installed, connect the coaxial cable to the back of your TV. Then go to "Set-up" and scan for DIGITAL channels. If you are trying rabbit ears, do the same.
