GE adora ice maker is iced up

Light was blinking and shut down for 15 seconds and restarted. Pushed lever in and heard crunching led light stayed steady. I put the ice tray back and am waiting to see if light stays steady. There seems to be ice buildup. We have had a lot of the same problems with this unit before and called repairman. He took the unit out. I believe he only removed one screw. I am tempted to try this myself.?

SOURCE: Ice Maker

Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

When an ice maker is producing ice poorly--when it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

SOURCE: ice maker stuck

Switch the ice maker off then back on should reset it . It is possible that the 'ice mould heater' is not working so the ice cubes don't realease from the mould , jamming the motor. Replacement ice maker is usually the solution

SOURCE: Ice maker not working

If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order:

  • It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these:

    • If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire.

    • If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire.

In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.

  • The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary.

  • The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.

SOURCE: Our GE Adora Refrigerator's ice maker isn't working properly

Perhaps your freezer isn't set cold enough - or your freezer door seal is not sealing correctly and the ice cubes are melting in the bin and sticking to one another and the spiral screw that delivers the ice.

Ge mongram ice maker blicking clean light

Whenever the unit has reached a failure mode, the LED will flash, and the unit will shut down. If the failure was caused during a harvest cycle which lasted more than 16 minutes, the LED will remain flashing on & off in halfsecond increments. If the failure is caused by a faulty bin thermistor, (not detected), the LED will remain flashing on & off in 1-second increments. These are the only two failures that cause the unit to reach a shutdown failure mode. x During the Clean cycle, the control board performs the diagnostics first. If the bin thermistor is not detected, the LED will flash two times. This is followed by a 3-second delay. If the evaporator thermistor is not detected, the LED will flash on five times. This will be followed by a 3-second delay. The LED will then come back on, and remain on for the remainder of the Clean cycle, and until the unit is turned back on.

GE refrigerator is not making ice

There are several types of ice makers with the same model number. Some of my questions may seem over - the - top, but I do not know your level of ability. Do not take offense.

Did this ice maker ever work before, or is it a newly installed maker or a factory installed maker in a new fridge? Have you moved the power switch to on? If yours has an LED power indicator, is it off, blinking or on? Off means there's no power to the maker - you'll need to get the maker powered up before going further (make sure the electrical power connector is mated fully). Blinking means cubes have become stuck in the maker. You'll have to shut the maker off, remove the cubes then power up again. On means it is powered and is working normally. Is the freezer compartment set to maintain a temperature lower than 15 degrees F (-9 C)? The ice maker will not make ice unless the temperature is below 15 F (-9 C). The space under the maker must remain clear of obstructions so that the sweeper arm is not blocked (when blocked indicates a full ice container and will halt ice production until the arm can move freely again). The maker may need as many as 3 cycles (approx 6 hours) before all the air in the ice maker's water lines have been purged completely.

Listen for the solenoid valve to operate. Every couple of hours, this valve should operate and an audible click on and click off heard after a several seconds (as long as set on the ice maker cube size adjustment knob). When this solenoid has clicked on, water should be flowing through the lines and filling the ice maker. If not, there is an obstruction that must be cleared. A dirty or improperly installed filter, pinched line, and even ice can interrupt flow to the ice maker. You might need to remove the ice maker from the freezer to check the water supply line that feeds it for the presence of ice. Melt / clear as needed.

Your model uses a electronic ice maker. If the tray has srinking cubes and if you fill to top with tap water, let freeze and if it does not drop the ice the problem most ikely is the icemaker mode=> WR30X10093 The ice maker has a thermistor or thermostat built in and communicates with the circuit board inside to tell when it is time to cycle. You can try the water test and let me know but this is a typical failure with that type of ice maker. If this solve you ice maker problem please rate me. If not explain what you tried and we will try the second test. Ice maker in our GE profile refrigerator is not working

Ice maker Diagnostic Test:

- Remove the ice bucket
-Turn the ice maker off, wait 15 seconds than turn it back on
-Press the ice paddle three times, this will begin diagnostic test.
-PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH ICE MAKER DURING DIAGNOSTICS

-In 3 minutes you should see the rack inside turn 360 degrees
-AND the ice maker bowl should fill with water

-IF either DID NOT work, call 1-800-GE-CARES for ice maker replacement. A service call is approx $80. The $80 will be deducted from the part/labor if you choose to purchase/install parts from the service technician. If not, you will pay for the service call. Good luck.

My GE adora makes very little ice and water stream is weak

Your problem may be as simple as the water shut off valve behind the refrigerator not being opened fully. Also the refrigerator was pushed back in place did the water line get kinked? If the water stream is weak/low the ice maker may not be filling up completely. There is an adjustment on the ice maker to increase out put but allow 24hrs for adjustment to take effect. The screw is located behind a plastic plug on the ice maker with arrows indicateing which direction for increase/decrease. Also if you have had the refrigerator for awhile it has a water filter that may need replaced.
