Hi,

An E1 error message usually indicates that the thermistor is defective and needs to be replaced. Without that part working properly, the electronic control could do unexpected things.

Thanks.

Hi Darrell, The link below is about how to trouble shoot and fix your dryer.....I hope this helps.....CHEERS..

The most common causes for an electric or gas dryer to stop drying or heating is:
1. The dryer lint screen (lint trap) has not been cleaned (poor or restricted airflow).
2. A clogged or kinked (bent) dryer air vent hose (inadequate or no airflow).
3. Drum has stopped turning, broken drum drive belt.
4. Overheated or bad motor (possible thermal overload).
5. Thermal fuse or thermostat (could be caused from dryer air vent hose lint buildup)
6. Heating element burnt out.
7. Loose electrical plug or power socket.
8. Other mechanical issue, fault or malfunction.

My Kenmore Elite HE4 dryer keeps shutting off after a few minutes.

are u saying it shuts down or just stops heating? if it shuts down u may have bad motor windings and or brushes and motor is burning out if its stops heating that is usually due to bad moister sensor, cycling thermostat ( which would not usually shut appliance off though), short in heating element, defective hi limit thermostat etc and of course u already said u cleaned lint and ducts? including the blower? if its blocked with lint u have a shut off issue

My dryer keeps shutting off after a few 10 to 13 minutes...and clothes are not drying. An element was changed some time ago. it does heat up but keeps shutting down...is it the timer or element?

Turn the breaker to the dryer completely off and back on again. Also check that nothing is blocking the venting. Remove the vent hose and run the unit if you are not sure. Make sure the lint trap is cleaned first. It probably is neither element nor timer since it is heating and quits without the timer advancing completely.

I have a Maytag neptune dryer model # MDE5500AY. I smelled a smokey and electrical smell tonight. What's going on? Lint catcher is clean and I also clean around dryer. House was built in 2004 and dryer is...

the fault is lint build up around the dyer element the element must be cleared of all lint after years of use despite having a catcher lint does get into the dryer in time it will build around the heating element and start to burn this is unsightly but more so very dangerous as it does cause house fires have the element cleaned

best of luck

Amana dryer not advancing on auto

Make sure the vent from the dryer to the outside is clean.
Reduced air flow can cause your symptom.

You can remove the vent hose from the dryer and operate the dryer in the automatic cycle.'
If the timer advances you know the vent needs cleaning.
Clean the lint filter housing also.
A flashlight helps to see all the way down the housing.

either your element is bad, also you could have the neutral wire on the element burned off which will leave you with 240volts across element, you do need the neutral to make elements heat also ckk for 120/240 volts at dryer

It got too much lint in it and the heat shut off. I cleaned out the lint but don't know how to get the heat back on.

Thermostat controls heat. There is also a

motor centrifulgal switch, in the element

circuit, that the motor closes to insure

the motor is turning. Try another heat

setting. There is more than one

thermostat. You may have blown the

'thermal fuse' too, which requires

replacement.
It is possible that your element has

failed also.

Tripped high limit. Must clean the lint

filter and the exhaust vent tube and all

the way in to the dryer. Hot air exit is

restricted.
