I have a err code, nothing wants to work.
If you get a non-flashing ERR, it is usually a bad circuit. If you get a flashing ERR but the mirror goes up and down and both shutter blade sets cross the aperture together, it is a phase switch problem in the aperture unit. There is a gear there with contacts that are connected to the top by welded posts at two places. One of the welds usually has failed allowing the contact to move out of position.
repair this requires removing the mirror box. There is soldering/un-soldering of lead free solder involved. This is not a job for an amateur. Some experience in small item repair and soldering is required.
While I can't speak specifically to the D-80, my D-90 users manual say the ERR message indicates a camera malfunction and can be cleared by tripping the shutter. The only way I can do this on my D-90 is to turn the camera off and back on. Sometimes, but not often, I have completely remove the battery and reinstall it. The users manual also says that if the problem persists to contact a Nikon service center. I suggest you contact Nikon support at www.nikon.com before you consider repairs.

During shooting, or when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, the number of images that can be stored in the memory buffer at current settings is shown on the exposure-count displays in the control panel and viewfinder. "r06" indicates that six images can fit in the camera's buffer, "r08" would indicate eight frames. Any other number could be displayed as well. Burst mode is used when you want to hold down the shutter button and continuously shoot. You are probably shooting in burst mode and your buffer is full, set the camera to single shot and see if that helps.

normally, just removing the lens and putting it again you solve the problem. F-- problem means "there's no lens attached !"

To solve this all you need to do is turn the lens' aperture ring (the one nearest the camera body) to the smallest number (probably 22 or 32).
