Is my defrost timer broken or my thermostat? The freezer was holding -30 temp but now is at +30.

Is the compressor running? If not - the timer could be stuck in defrost mode. If it is ruinning, then the freezer coil should be cold. If it is choked with frost & ice - then the defrost heater isn't getting powered (bad timer or defrost terminator - or is getting powered but has burned out.

You should allow the ice and frost to melt completely before turning back on again. Typically ice and frost don't build up so bad in a few days time to cause the temperature rise you're describing If getting cold - the compressor and refrigerant is likely OK, if not the defrost circuit is suspect. If compressor running but not getting cold - a refrigerant leak / charge level may be causing the problem.

Defrost not working heavy ice build up around coils

Hi

Frost is a natural occurrence on the evaporator coils in the freezer compartment of your refrigerator. To prevent frost buildup, a self-defrosting refrigerator warms the coils using a defrost heater several times each day to melt away the frost. This frost melts into water and flows out of the compartment through the drain. If any part of the defrost system is not working properly, the result can be heavy frost buildup that may affect the cooling capacity of the refrigerator.

The defrost timer is a mechanism that tells the defroster how long to run to melt the frost. The limit switch measures the temperature in the freezer and helps to maintain it, while the heater is the key element that melts the frost. Any one of these components could need replacement at a given time, which will result in this over-frosting.

The Freezer is working but the the refrigerator side is warm, What causes this?

Look for heavy frost on the back wall of the freezer panel, if there is frost the defrost heater has gone bad.

Runs constantly, freezer isn't cold enough, bottom of fridge is freezing

Do you have a heavy frost build up on the back wall of the freezer section toward the bottom. If you do your defrost heater has gone bad and will need to be changed. If you do not have frost build up the other problem would be with the evaporator fan or the main board. Let's hope for heavy frost build up.

Kenmore 596.72289200 Freezer fine, but refrigerator not coolin

you must not be getting any air flow into the refr section. make sure the fan is running and if so then you may have a defrost problem. look at the freezer section rear panel, if it has heavy frost on it then it is not defrosting properly. there are a few problems that could cause a defrost issue. defrost heater, thermostat, or timer/control board. most likely the defrost thermostat.
if it is frosted over, then shut off the unit and get ready to catch the extra water that will run onto the floor, after a full day turn it back on and if it cools, you will know that you are not defrosting. it will work ok until it frosts over again, in about 2 weeks. then you will need to find out which part is bad causing the no defrost.

I keep finding water coming from underneath the chest freezer.

How old is this chest type freezer. The newer freezers have foamed in place insulation which also prevents moisture from migrating into the insulation. Raising the freezer by putting rollers under it would allow more air circulation under the freezer to evaporate any condensation.

How often is this freezer defrosted? If frost buildup is heavy the gases returning to the compressor will be colder and may cause frost on the compressor suction line which will defrost between run cycles. The frost will melt off of the suction line during the off cycle and could be the cause of the water you are finding.

Off the wall, if you have a male dog he may be doing his thing causing what appears to be water from under the freezer. :)

Heavy Frost in Freezer

You have an air leak coming from the light switch in the ceiling of the freezer.  You will need to call LG for resolution on this problem.  I believe there is a fix for this problem.
