I hear a pump go on, some brew comes out of spout and then nothing. When I try again I get nothing.
Because the pre-ground function works to make coffee, the boiler valve and pump are good. The curser on the boiler valve is good.
The grinder outlet and ground coffee doser are full/clogged. The grinder spins to grind but cannot move ground coffee to the doser. This grinder outlet jam does not allow fresh beans to enter the burrs. The grinder motor times out in 16 seconds. Until the grinder outlet and dosing device is cleaned the grinder cannot function.
By using pre-ground coffee, the grinding function is by-passed. The dosing chamber right above the brew group needs to be cleaned. When oily beans are used or if the grinder and ground coffee dispensing dose is not cleaned, the ground coffee will jam the grinder outlet and/or the passage between grinder and doser.
Solution: 1
1- Stop using oily dark roast beans.
2- Avoid grind setting for fine powder. This will definitely clog the grinder outlet. Fully automatic machines need coarser grind like table salt grain or like fine sand. Clean the grinder outlet and doser before changing the grind setting to coarse.
3- Stop using pre-ground function. This will cause expensive repair/replacement of parts. Use the following link for grinder and doser cleaning instructions:

Hi there, I had a very similar problem with my Gaggia Classic. Worked fantastic every day for two years then one day the brew head was reduced to a very slow drip. I rang some Gaggia service agents and they all said it needs a service ($100-$150). The last one I called told me to descale it before bringing it in for a service as it was probably scale buildup. I told them it wasn't a gradual thing - it just suddenly stopped and they said what happens is the scale builds up to a point where a piece breaks off and clogs the pipeworks leading to the brewing head. So, I used the instructions outlined here: http://www.coffeemachine.com.au/descalin... At then end of the second flush through the steam head, I closed the steam vale to try and push the descaling solution back through the brew head (just dripped through again) then left it for 10 minutes again. Did the same the third time and it went to drip again for about five seconds then bingo - burst back to full flow. Hope this helps.

hi!!
maybe you check the pump
and clean
or may a replacement
SOURCE: gaggia classic -no steam from spout
I had almost the exact same thing. The fuse for your frother is out. If both the frother and the brew head won't heat, then it is your Thermal Fuse. There are two different fuses inside the machine. Take the top off, and find both fuses. Take a piece of wire and connect it to each end of the fuse. Now turn the power on. If it heats, then that is the fuse. If no results, try the other fuse. Either fuse should be cheap. My thermal fuse was $1.98. Good luck!

your grinding chamber is blocked, the same happened to me, did it struggle to grind before? try taking the black shoot out the top with the 2 screws( were you would put pre ground coffee in) take the brew unit out(along with the waste water and bean tray), and reach up to where there is a little spring, the spring controls a little door, if you open the door manually and clean out the shoot to the grinder( make sure the machine is unplugged for this), i used the end of a tea spoon and a little hoover. it should work after this
