There can be several reasons why your laptop screen is going black after logging into Windows. To start with the troubleshooting, you can see if you are able to use Safe Mode to boot into your Windows 8. To know how to boot in Safe Mode, you can refer to the following Microsoft link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809468

If you are able to boot in Safe Mode, you can use "msconfig" to detect the issues that may be preventing your system from performing normally. To get a better understanding about what is msconfig and how to use it, you can refer to the following Microsoft support page:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/using-system-configuration#1TC=windows-8

If following the steps in the above mentioned link does not help, you can refer to the following HP support page for some more troubleshooting options:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03518165

Hope this will help you.

SOURCE: my window vista is not working having a hard time

This is a new problem I have seen with vista. It is similar to the blue screen of death only it is black.

You can try reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling vista. If that does not work you will need to replace your hard drive.

Disable Driver Signature Enforcement On the Startup Settings screen, tap the F7 or 7 key on your keyboard to select the "Disable driver signature enforcement" option.

Windows 8 will immediately boot to its typical lock screen. Sign into Windows 8 as you normally would - everything will look the same, except Windows will no longer demand driver signatures until you next reboot.
You can now install unsigned drivers as you would on previous versions of Windows. Windows will alert you if you try to install a driver that isn't properly signed, but you'll see an "install this driver software anyway" option you can choose.
install-unsigned-driver-anyway-on-windows-8.png
Reboot When you're done installing the unsigned drivers, reboot your computer. Windows will keep using any unsigned drivers you've already loaded, even as it enforces signature requirements for new drivers.

What is the difference between the start screen and the apps screen in windows 8?

The Start screen is the default screen that shows ups when you turn your computer on. Most of the programs and applications installed on your computer will appear there. However, some programs and applications such as Paint, appear on the App screen. You can, however, move those to the start screen by right clicking them > Pin to Start. Finding the App screen is easy: Right-click a blank area in the Start screen > All apps icon at the lower right.

How to go in safe mode?

Hello,

to go into safe mode, turn on your computer and constantly press F8 immediately. You will press the F8 button at the first black screen, that is, when your computer displays its log.

While pressing the F8, a windows option will be the next screen to appear, amongst the windows option, you will see safe mode there, use your keyboard arrow key to scroll to safe mode and press enter.

By now, your computer should be loading on safe mode.

Good luck.
