There are two possibilities here Joanne, first, it could be a false error message or else second, the Cyan/Magenta print head has gone bad.Try the following:
1. Take the Cyan/Magenta printhead out. Remember, the printhead...not the cartridges.
Clean the copper contacts with a Q Tip, moistened with plain water. Wait till it dries, put the printhead back in.
2. If this does not resolve the issue, unplug the power cord from the back and press and hold the power cord for 30 sec. This will drain all the static charges. Plug it back after a couple of minutes and see if the error message re appears.

Have you replaced the ink? Perhaps one color is low or one of the pin-heads is broken. If the pins on the printer have broken you will need a repair technician or just buy a new printer.

The following printhead has a problem black/yellow the printer will not print. These are new ink cartiladge

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
In the HP OfficeJet Pro L7780 the printheads are actually separate from the ink cartridges. In your case, it sounds like the black/yellow head has worn out and will need to be replaced. The good news is, this is a user replaceable part. The bad news is, the replacement heads are not cheap. Amazon has the HP 88 Black/Yellow printhead listed currently for about $61.

YouTube has a nice video that explains how to install the printheads here:

I hope this helps!

Where is the print cartridge can't fix jam

This error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

It sounds like the paper sensor in the paper try is broken or jamed. Remove the paper tray and locate the paper sensor. Check if it is jamed in the up position or if it is broken.

Printhead Problem

Open the cover and hold the cancel button for a few seconds, the carriage moves to the left side. Pry off the cover on the right and look for any paper scraps down in the cavity. You can also remove the m/c printhead and wipe the bottom on a damp paper towel and try again...
