Press the F8 key several times while it's booting and it should enter safe mode.

Hi,

Read a comment by an expert who solved this issue ;-

Got it working again - it's F2 on the Inspiron 1501 to get into the BIOS. Once I was in safe mode, I found a piece of freeware I'd installed was causing the problem. I disabled it, tested the system, then removed it altogether. Now my laptop's back to normal. Thanks for your help.

Thanks.

Safe mode is appear on the screen before the normal windows system. all you have to do is press F8 or Function 8 before the normal system comes up. This procedure is only for technical assistance, whatever any changes on safe mode is your decision. Good Luck!

If you select F8 repeatedly, you should display the Safe Mode menu.

Sounds like you may have a corrupt driver or incompatible software trying to launch at boot. Or, at worst, malware thats totally screwing it up. If you have access to another PC, download Service Pack 2 for Vista. Boot your PC into safe mode, and try to install SP2 from safe mode.

Reset hdd lock for acer aspire

Step 1:
The Dell Inspiron 1501 is a laptop computer which ships with the Windows Vista operating system. Recovering a lost password can seem difficult, as you will be locked out of the passworded account until remedial measures are taken, but it is not impossible. Recover from a lost password on your Dell Vista system by using the password-recovery features of your operating system.

Restart your Dell 1501 and tap "F8" as the computer is booting. Choose the "Safe Mode" option and press "Enter." Select the "Administrator" account to log in to the computer in Safe Mode. Click "Start," type "control userpasswords2" in the "Search" box and press "Enter." Click on the locked account and press "Reset Password." This resets and recovers the password on your Dell computer.

I cannot not get my dell inspiron 1501 pc notebook to boot all the way to the desktop

Try this, start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. This should get you back.

Try booting the pc into safe mode with networking. If it will boot to safe mode then all is not lost. If it won't boot to safe mode, try to boot with the windows disc and go to the restore screen or go to the repair option and try to repair the windows startup.

Does the issue occur in Safe Mode (Press F8 at boot, select safe mode) If not then a program is likely conflicting, run a virus and spyware scan. If the issue does occur in safe mode, try adjusting keyboard settings in COntrol panel
