I have a sony 50 inch wega model kdf-e50A10, turned it on and it was a big red flash and turned itself off, unpluged it and it came back on for about 10 minutes and shut it self off again and won't come on no matter what we try.

Hi, Pop sound was broken lamp in tv, replace lamp to solve tv issue. Please recheck model number as KDF-50EA10 seems invalid/ incorrect model number and nearest match is KDF-E50A10 If model number is KDF-E50A10 then required lamp part number is as follows... F93087500 ... LAMP BLOCK ASSY XL-2400 and available with Sony Accessories Store for $200 Let me know if you have addition question or tv model number is other than above said (KDF-E50A10). Thanks.
3 red light flashes shows that lamp cover has not been fixed in its place as it is first plastic cover that was removed from tv cabinet to replace lamp in tv. Make sure lamp cover is back in its place securely.
Replace the lamp would be the first thing to try. Lamp door switch on this model is notorious for going bad. If you replace lamp and still won't turn on jumper door switch. If you take off back you can see switch board.
Im guessing it is doiong this about every 30 seconds or so. Im also guessing that when the sound and picture go out, the green standby light flashes until the set comes back on. If this is the case, mine was doing the same thing. I did a bunch of research. I replaced the lamp and the tv is like new, no more problems. The lamp light on the front of the set does not come on because the lamp/bulb is noot burned out all the way. I bought my lamp from www.vanns.com , the best price I found.
tv works for about 2 minutes, then shuts itself off. the red standby light flashes 50 times, then the tv. comes back on for approximetly 2 minutes then goes off again, only to repeat again

Lamp of TV getting weaker and requires replacement. This shut off by itself will increase day by day until you put new lamp in TV.
Always Buy Sony original lamp and avoid aftermarket/ cheap lamp for TV safety.
My Dad suggested unplugging the television as it might need to reset itself. We unplugged it, let it sit while I cleaned the back with the vacuum cleaner, plugged it back in and it works fine now.
