The default size for MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) works. Do not change it, unless your ISP tells you to do so.

This is probably can not solve your problem, but this is my experience.

I have used adelphia.net high speed for my internet for almost two years,until one of their worker told me they didn't have any high speed at all, finally I cancel my high speed only used their regular speed, it is the same.

How to increase your internet download speed?

hey friends.....many people have slow internet connecction and less download speed ..
here is the tip to make increase your internet download speed .....
for that you need an application called TCPoptimizer.exe ... go to google , type TCPoptimizer.exe... search and download the application from any site which offers it...it is a free ware only.....

it will be available in www.speedguide.net
the size is less than 1mb only....

run the application ....
in the general tab select the optimal settings settings radio button... on selecting MTU tab will get activated and set the MTU value to 1500... beyond that will not work.. Apply the changes and reboot your pc... The download speed would increase to 100kb/sec....

There's probably an option where you can tell it to operate in "unsecured mode", which doesn't require a password. If you do that, though, anyone can use your wireless... and if they CAN, they WILL. You may end up with strangers getting all your Internet bandwidth, leaving you with nothing.

First you need to go into your documents and get rid of any files or folders you don't need. Then go into the control panel and remove any programs you don't use. That includes all those tool bars with search engines that you probably have and don't need. Go into internet connections and delete all temporary internet files and cookies. After you have done all of that you should defragment your computer.

If you log onto centurylink.net, you can ask for the settings for POP mail.
They will guide you through them. Basically, you need your username and password along with the pop mail server and the smtp mail server. The pop server will be pop.centurylink,net. The smtp server is smtp.centurylink.net. The server required authentication, but not SSL
