SOURCE: Problem connecting Samsung DVD-HR737 DVD recorder to Set Top Box

I had the same problem, if you go through the channels from your DVD-R remote it should give you the option AV-1 and then AV-2 ? on mine it's AV1 (test it out first and you have to watch what your recording) then it should record from the cable box

worth a try?

SOURCE: region free - Samsung DVD-VR375 DVD Recorder / VCR

I have managed to get a solution to this now. I have a region 4 as in Australia so depending on where you are you'll need to try the correct region. It worked for me first time. Point 4/ below my region code appeared in the top right corner for a couple of seconds not the top left! Once you've completed below turn the machine on again and stick in one of the dvds that would not work before.

Cheers Stewart

1/Turn machine on without disc inside
2/Press menu button
3/Enter region code (See below for list)
4/A highlighted 'region area number' will appear in the upper left corner (some players)
5/Press 9 to change the region number to multi-regional
6/Turn machine off

R1 - 29334
R2 - 38767
or, 5 7 5 3 8
R3 - 56732
R4 - 76884
R5 - 53814
R6 - 24462

SOURCE: Playing a recorded dvd from dvd-vr375 on another dvd player

If you are using DVD-R media, you can record in either V or VR mode.  What is confusing is that if you try to format the media, you only have the choice of VR mode -- and this mode is very well understood by other dvd players, some other records do understand it.  This mode has much better editing capability, but poor compatibility.  If you want compatibility, use the V mode.  The trick is that to do that, you don't format it!   V mode is the default and does not require formatting.  The owners manual says that, but too well hidden if you ask me

SOURCE: hookup wrong? I can't get the menu to come up for the VR375

New HD tv. Have digital cable box connected to tv., cable box connected to DVD recorder, but can't get setup menu to come up on tv screen. I had a similar problem. I have a HD tv connected to a digital cable box. I hooked up the DVD recorder with the wires it came with, but it would not play or give me the menu. However it was correctly hooked up. So the next day I connected a HDMI wire from the DVD recorder to the tv and everything works now.

I need philips universal 4 digit remote codes

Not sure I can help. You might do well to call Samsung 800-SAMSUNG. But I have the codes that should work if you were hooking the Samsung to a Philips set top box or cable box. Perhaps they are the same? (And how lucky are you that you landed this jewel! I love this unit!

I am trying to record with VHS from TV and not using a cable box. No results. How do I do this?

This unit doesn't have a tuner. So unless your TV can provide video out (not a common feature) to the dvd/vcr recorder, you need a tuner. A set-top tuner box for OTA would work. With a little work, you could also use a tuner (USB or PCI slot card) in a computer. Usually you need a converter box unless your video card can output in a non-RGB format. The manual for this device is available here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/DVD-VR375 .

I wish that I could be of more help.

How do I connect to Sharp HDTV and Comcast cable

Your dvd recorder only has rca, red white yellow inputs it wont allow you to record in HD, although you can play your comcast box any hd, regular digital through and record. Hook up the comcast box if HD through preferably HDMI if not get one from comcast. The HD box is the only box that allow HDMI, component and regular RCA and some RF out. This way you can play HD to your set but also record through RCA or RF again will not allow for HD record unless its TiVo. Hope this helps

How to connect motorola cable box to samsung dvd/vcr model vr375 to a Westinghouse hdtv with 2 hdmi connections

The DVD-VR375 does not have an HDMI input. The connection should be:
• RED WHITE & YELLOW CABLE from your cable box (AV OUT) should connect to the DVD-VR375 (AV IN 1). Set the DVD-VR375 to AV 1 using the INPUT SEL. button.
• Next, connect an HDMI cable from the DVD-VR375 (HDMI OUT) to the TV (HDMI IN). Set the TV to the proper source.
This connection would allow the recorder to work as a pass through and will let you record TV programs as well as watch your cable channels.

Hope this helps!

Att uverse remote won't work with other devices

Yes you have to use the recommended Uverse codes, and follow the directions to enter the code. Hold the tv button down, on the Uverse remote, then with it stil held down add the OK button, let go of both, then you will see the lights at the top of Uverse remote light up, it is then ready to accept the code, it will be a four digit code, Go to [email protected], and look under TV, then programming the remote is there. Put remote Code in the att search box if you can't find it.

Samsung DLP 56' TV turns itself off when I initially turn it own. (I turn it on, then it shuts off for approximately 5-10 seconds and turns back on. Sometimes it does it a couple of times before it stays...

The problem is with the ATT UVERSE HDTV BOX and not the Samsung DLP TV. There is an inherent problem with the ATT UVERSE HDTV Box when using a HDMI cable. This was verified by the ATT UVERSE Technician.

Thanks,

Can't switch from AV2 to AV1 with Samsung DVD-VR375 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo

To be able to select AV1, you have to first go into the setup menu and set the control set top box setting to OFF. I think you go to the menu >> setup >> features >> set top box control >> select OFF. Note that this has the side effect of erasing any previously stored timer settings.
