I have a 95 honda accord dx. When i put the key in and turn it nothing happens. All my dash lights come on but nothing trys trys turning over or anything. I was told by a handful of mechanics and people at advanced auto it was the ignition switch so listening to them i changed the ignition switch and its still doing the same thing put key in turn it nothing still happens. What else could it be??

Only thing it could have been in the first place is the wire from the switch to the starter is disconnected from the starter. Even a new switch won't fix that. Just get under the car and plug the wire back onto the spade connector.

SOURCE: my 1997 honda accord wont start.....

Hi Matt

Follow the( + ) positive lead from the battery, to the starter, check the connections, if all OK, get someone to turn the ignition key to start, and give the starter a tap, on the selenoid, with a small hammer or a metal socket extension.

Good Luck !

Let me know the outcome !

Also a FixYa rating would be nice !

Check to see if you have voltage to the starter if you do try tapping the solenoid while someone cranks it if it starts change out your starter if you have no voltage to your starter start to look for a fusible link that goes to your starter chances are its blown. A fusible link is going to look just like a regular insulated wire but acts as a fuse and blows just like a fuse check the wires to the starter I usually pull a little on the wires to see if the insulation will stretch if it keeps stretching then that's the fusible link that's blown and will need to be changed out. I have seen this on many vehicles where everything works but the starter will not turn over. sometimes the fusible link is located down by the starter and other times its under the hood next to other fusible links you just have to find it let me know how it goes.

I HAVE A 1988 HONDA ACCORD DX,WHEN I TRIED STARTING IT EVERY THING WENT OUT

If there is no power presently, most likely it blew the fusible link, Honda's have a fusible link just off the battery and is located usually along the inside of the passenger fender follow the wire from the battery and you will find it, most likely that is the culprit, good luck.

Since you said clutch. There is a switch that is located on the clutch pedal arm , about half way up. It is called the neutral safety switch. This is probably your problem. They are inexpensive and easy to replace.

Replace speedometer cluster on my '95 Honda Accord DX

I would have the trans speed sensor checked before removing dash assembly. The speed sensor is an analog sensor that sends a signal to the dash. It is located near the trans output shaft attached to housing with a small bolt. It is gear driven and quite easy to get at. It is also subject to heat and road conditions, makeing this the prime culprit in speedo problems. Hope this helped. Moe
