Can you help me tonight? I need to get to my dishes and they're locked in the dishwasher!

There is a solenoid that opens the door to the dispenser. You can check it with a volt/ohm meter. Sometimes large dishes can block the door keeping it from opening. I personally know on some Whirlpool washers (because it was mine) that if the bottom drawer is put in backwards, it wont let the door open. When I opened the main door, then the dispenser would flop open. You need a meter to check this part if its not the other things. Without it, you are just guessing.

First clean the sprayer arm of all debris. In the back of most dishwashers there is a screen on the bottom that is often full of junk, debris and other stuff from dishes not being scraped off.
Clean that screeen off.
Run vinegar (1 cup) for a full cycle to help break down the lime and other build ups.
Check sprayer arm for debris and other objects. carefully pick it out with a small needle or sometimes even a nail works.
Try running dishes again to see if this helps.

Well, I just took my hose out (pulled both ends off the connectors) and it was indeed full of junky cruddy muck, so blew it out over a waste bin until it ran clear through. Now I've put the hose back on and will see what happens next wash!

Had a similar problem with an 846, but with the inlet outlet lamp flashing. the bottom tray had filled with watedr froma dodgy seal. I switched off and disconnected the electricity. Removed the bottom front cover below the door (2 screws behind the pretty kickboard which also had to come off). The bottom of the machien was a big puddle. I dried this out with paper twowel, put the machine back together and it ran fine. I am going to replace the pump seals now as the machine seems otherwise OK.
Good luck with yours. rupertvdpP

sounds like the flood mode is in operation, you may have a leak into the base stopping the wash continuing. pump out the water, then tip the unit at about 45 degrees and see if any water pours out of the base- confirming a leak.
