Computer won't boot or shut off

I have an emachine w3400 i recently disassembled it and cleaned it out. I reassembled it now it will turn on but it will not boot and the monitor doesn't come on. Also it will not shut off when i try to power it down. The fan runs and it beeps in about 5 second intervals. I do i have something hooked up wrong is there some kind of way to check it?

i changed the location of my memory now it will start but i can't get windows to start it resets to the start up screen. It won't start in safe mode or the last good start up date or anything. When i try to start it at the last good start date the screen goes black and i get something on the left hand side of the screen then it scolls down rapidly. If i try to start it in any other way be it normal start up or safe mode it resets after the windows load bar fills up. What should i do now?

Yep--you put it together incorrectly.
I don't know why you took it apart. Don't do that again. Just open the case and blow it out--especially the power supply. There is nothing to be gained by taking all the stuff out of it.

I would say you have the little plugs from the front panel in the wrong place. You don't have the power switch on the correct contacts. Your memory might not be seated fully. If you have a video card, it's not seated correctly.

The way to check where those little connectors it to look on the motherboard itself and printed near the little posts where you hook up the plugs. The posts should be labeled as to pwr sw, pwr led, rst, ide led, spkr.
Try that--and good luck. If you need further help, just post it here.

W3400 service manual

A service manual for any eMachine will not be available. The best you will be able to get is a "user manual" which is next to useless for actually servicing a problem. eMachines are notorious for poor and non existent documentation.

Mouse Cursor Frozen

Try putting the computer into safe mode by shutting down the computer. Turn the computer back on. At beginning of the boot process press and hold the f8 button and select safe mode from the menu.

When the safe mode is done booting up, try moving the mouse around. If it works, restart the the computer under normal Windows startup procedures.

How do i get the setup disc or dvds?

Found other question....
The setup dvd is usually made when U turn the pc on for the first time. The system will want U to make them them called Recovery disks (dvd's).
Must be used machine and needs some TLC.
After shutdown, unplugged, open case and vacuum or blow out dirt. Clean fans and gently push connections to insure good connections. Power up to make sure all fans are working. Unplug and reassemble.
Boot up and run Disk Cleanup, then Defrag. Run MSconfig - startup tab and uncheck everything. Reboot.
The only thing that will shut down pc is overheating. If confussed, go to control panel to power options and read options, set accordingly.
U can create recovery disk by following directions in the Help and Support section.

Good Luck

Go to your control panel, systems, hardware, device manager and see if the device is reconginzed. If there is a "!" by the DVD drive, there is a hardware issue or driver issue with the device.

Emachines computer

Any computer would freeze either due to a hardware conflict or due to some software installed which is taking up all the resources and your PC stops responding. Have you made any changed recently? Installed any new hardware or software?
