Why does it make a siren like noise when i turn on?

TV just started making a steady tone noise internally when powered up. It goes away in a minute or so. Volume is isolated through an amp that is off at start up. Other than that it works fine.

You have a bad capacitor in the power supply. Take it in for service or replace yourself. Remove case and fire it up. You'll know right where it is.

SOURCE: Polaroid FLM 3232 is making a loud crackling noise overpowering volume

Your only solution is to change the sound to mono. Eventually the power supply will go and the tv won't work.

SOURCE: Polaroid 37 in LCD TV

There is not a good solution. If you read about the Polaroid 37" LCD HDTV, you have a problem and it's the same one that many of us have. According to Polaroid's service center, the control box needs to be replaced. Polaroid does not stand by this product. The company gives you a lot of lip service about how many they sell and how few problems they have - they're lying. The TV's should be recalled and I'd suggest you join many of us to demand it. Write BBB, write the company where you bought the TV, write any consumer group you can think of - Polaroid TV's are junk. Sorry you've got one. Sounded like a good deal and Polaroid used to manufacture quality - no more.

SOURCE: High pitched noise

I am about to post a in depth guide about how to fix this problem. It's because a capacitor inside the TV has blown which causes the buzzing high pitched noise. It's really easy to fix however and only costs about £1 / $2 to sort out.

You can read a similar guide here http://www.fixya.com/support/r741402-polaroid_flm_373b_lcd_tv_black_screen but I will shortly be uploading a guide on the buzzing problem!

Can a Slipping Belt Sound Like a Siren?

You are pretty good at this! Replace the belt, but don't buy a cheap one. The belt slips, then gets hot and sticky, noise goes away. Sort of like dragsters making their tires stick to the track, only a lot smaller. You get a point for your diagnosis.

Loud buzzing noise on vizio tv

It sound like you may have sound processor problem which is part of the main board, I would also look at the 12vdc from power supply to make sure it is clean DC.

Onkyo HT-SR800 buzzing noise present then vanishes

The hum a fluorescent light makes is the 50 or 60 Hz hum of the alternating current mains supply. Inside the light fitting is a choke which when less than perfect tends to hum. When the choke is loose internally or externally is when the hum becomes an annoying buzz.

When an audio system has a similar tone of buzzing or humming the source will invariably be the same AC mains but how it got in there is difficult to answer...

It could possibly be poor smoothing and regulation of the power supply or an accidental hum loop caused by careless design and/or poor grounding. It could be caused by being induced in the input by connecting leads that are too long and poorly positioned/screened or it could be caused by mismatch between different components causing a poor signal-to-noise-ratio.

I am not sure why it should come and go but the fact it does would indicate a power supply problem more than the other possible causes.

If the Onkyo system has it's own volume control and it is being used witha tv or similar, it is worth trying to imporove things by turning up the tv volume to near maximum and then controlling the volume with the system control.

LG 47" LCD TV - 47LC7DF Clicking Noise

I was told that these clicking noises (which happen on my Magnavox LCD too) were due to the "power required" at the internal switch. Seems that the power required to immediately turn on the TV is too much for a standalone household outlet, so it "surges" power in a series to get enough there. Hence, the clicking sounds are actually mini power surges to send more power to the internal circuits to turn the TV on.

If your set is like mine, these noises generally stop after a minute or two, correct?

HDTV Rear Projection

The color wheel is the most common problem when it comes to noise from DLP's. To determine if it is a color wheel or fan: Turn on the set. When the noise starts, turn off the set. If the noise goes away within 5 seconds, then the color wheel is bad. If the noise goes away after one to one and a half minutes after the set was shut off, then one of the fans are making the noise.
