Plug a new one in. if it's on a laptap you peel the edge around the screen off slowly(having bought a laptop screen beforehand) and from there you unscrew the old screen, take it out(mildly carefully)and unplug the video cord to the screen(VERY carefully as to not damage it unless you wanna buy a new one and rewire it to the base part which is a ***** to open up) and plug the new one in and make sure not to lay down the new screen or you'll **** it up. Screw the new one into place(make sure it's right side up, but if not you can fix that through stuff like alt+ctrl+arrow key) and click the trim back on.

If it's a tv style screen you unplug the video ****(generally red yellow and white cords in back) plug it into the new one and find a preferential positioning for it.

Tower screen then you unplug the VGA or whatever video cord you use and plug it into new one.

Phone or smartphone takes speciallized equipment, but if you wanna do it then you crack case off(turn the ****** off first) following the lines around the edges and then take screen off according to composition of the phone itself and put new one in except do it reverse of taking the otherone out.

The video cable has to be seated properly, all the way down.
Also, on some older LCD screens there are very thin pins inside the connector. Take a look inside the connector, make sure there are no damaged (bent) pins.
You can straighten bent pins with a very small screwdriver but this procedure requires a lot of patience and concentration.
Fortunately, most newer LCDs have a different type of connector, without fragile pins inside.
OK, you have reseated all connectors and cannot see anything wrong but the new screen still is not working. What’s next?

Remove the new screen and connect the old one. If the old one works properly (except the damaged area) but the new one is dead, apparently the new screen is defective and has to be replaced.

Hopefully it has warranty.
Here’s another scenario. The new screen kinda works. You can see a very faint image but there is no backlight.
If that’s the case, disconnect the new screen from the inverter board and plug in the old screen instead, as it shown on the picture below. If the backlight inside the old screen lights up, apparently the new screen has defective backlight lamp and has to be replaced.

First you need to get the right screen. Take out the screen by removing the rubber bumpers on the corners of the lcd bezel, then unscrew the screws that were beneath the rubber. After that you will have to pry slightly on the edges of the bezel to unsnap it and remove it from the laptop.

After that you will remove the screws on the sides the attach the screen to the hindges. On the back of the lcd it will give the model number, ebay is a good source for lcd screens. Once you get a replacement screen, you disconnect the cable on the back of the lcd and bottom, and then repalce the screen and assemble in reverse order.

The screen resolution is a combo of:

1. the screen's capability
2. the video card's capability
3. the driver's settings

If the above screen is made for this laptop (as it appears to be), then the settings you had should still be there.

If the new screen is white and old screen displays 20% of the display then you can check by flashing the software , in most the cases white screen is the software problem.....
