The problem is a faulty inverter kit (2 boards).
I live in the Netherlands and had it twice, tv is 2 and a half years old! In the Netherlands Philips replaces the inverterkit without any
costs for the consumer (even after warranty time) cause they have
admitted that it is a production fault.Philips made a new inverterkit
which should solve the problem indefenit.Be sure the kit is Version
1.3! I had 1.2 after the first problem, and that went wrong after 7 months again. Today got revision1.3 installed which is Philips final solution.
Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together. When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixelation ,black and white picture, even vertical lines. You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!
yes, by canging the bulb. it proboly went out while the television was already dead. you can try but i would hire a proffesional. it may cost 100$ or more.
Hi LEE,
I just went over the specs on the 42PFL5603D. It doesn't have PIP. I'm sure the guy in the shop was confused with another TV.
There is a software upgrade for that model TV. It wouldn't give you PIP. But, It will fix some of the problems they are have with the TV right now.
Hope I answered your questions.
I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
