I would recommend the following: -Remove the cartridge from the printer -Turn the printer off -Wait 60 seconds -Turn the printer back on -Firmly re-install the cartridge If the error message remains, there is likely to be a problem with the cartridge. In this case please contact your retailer.
It said exactly what? If it mentioned waste toner, emptying that tray (Toshiba has nice zero-waste-to-landfill toner recycling program) should have pretty much cleared things up; it appears that the sensor for that still sees lumps of toner..or something...coming up close to the paper path. Check it out carefully and replace the tray.
The wast toner is placed next (next) to the first tray.
To reach there open the front door and you will see a screw (placed on top toward the main swith).
After unscrew you will be able to open a small door that hides the waste toner bottle.
Be careful because it is a little messy.

This service indicator is referring to the main lift motor that is located on the rear of the machine, which comes in contact with the back of the tray and then engages to lift the paper up to the tray. I would suggest removing the paper tray and inspect the back of it, ensure that no parts appear broken and attempt to manually crank the arm that causes the paper to lift. If all is functioning on the tray side, then look towards the back of the machine through the front, make sure there is no lodged paper or debris. If no physical obstructions are present, and nothing appears to be broken and the paper tray aligns up properly, then you most likely have a failing lift motor.
I just replaced my black ink cartridge on the same printer and I'm encountering the same problem: a message that states "the black cartridge is not compatible with this printer". Well, that's not true. It is compatible. As a matter of fact, I got my printer (with new cartridge installed) to print a page once. But, now its giving me problems again and I can't get it to work. Hello! 23 and 24 cannot work after a refill. They are, as Lexmark calls them, "return program cartridges", not meant to be refilled, only used once. You need to buy 23a and 24a or 34 and 35 cartridges. You can refill those and they work fine!
check if the cartridge is a hp cartridge
if no use a hp cartridge
if issue stll occurs
open the cartridge door
remove the cartridge and the papers from the tray
close the cartridge door and turn off the printer
then turn on then printer
you will get a msg install black cartridge
open the cartridge door and put the cartridge inside and the papers in the tray and close the cartridge door
the printer will intiallize and you will get a ready msg on the display of the printer.
if you still get the msg have the printer serviced
