Engine starts, runs for 15 seconds and shuts off then starts again and shuts off about6 times then overcrank light comes on.
I don't think the over crank is a problem.
Why is it shutting off?
Find the owners manual to find out if there is some fault that will shut it down or it may be an engine problem like the choke not releasing after starting.
To find a manual online you will need the make and model number of your generator.

The 'overcrank' error simply means it tried to start but never actually started. It cranked for an extended period. Check the fuel and starting issues you would normally check to start the engine.

It could be either your start capacitor or the contactor-relay. Or you could try cleaning the contacts of the relay with an emery board to see if there is a change.
