How to fix a wobbly ceilng fan

wobbly cieling fan
1. make sure all mounting screws between the fan and the ceiling are tight. There is probably an electrical box mounted in the cieling that the fan is screwed into. I would turn the fan light on and then keep flipping breakers off, on at a time ,to see which breaker turns off the fan light. leave the fan light breaker off and you can unmount the fan from the cieling electrical box. The electrical box may have several holes in it for mounting screws and prehaps there are some holes left empty in the box that you can put more wood screws into to help keep the electrical box more firmly mounted and that may help lessen the wobble.
Its ok to bend the electrical wiring aside to put more screws in. Just be reasonably gentle with the wiring and then bend it back somewhat to where it was before you started. make sure that wiring does not get pinched between the fan and the electrical box and that all wiring resides inside the box.
#2 This is harder to do. you need to balance the blades for the fan ,similar to how a lawnmower blade is balanced after sharpening and before remounting the lawnmower blade on the mower. also kinda like balancing a car tire. I have a lawnmower blade balancing fixture that i bought at the lawnmower shop, but i dont know if there is a fan blade balancing fixture that you could buy from somewheres. Maybe try google.com,bing.com or ask.com and type into the search box fan blade balancer
or fan blade balancing fixture or fan blade balancing jig.
PLEASE read the directions or SPECIFICATIONS before you buy the fan blade balancer, only to find out that it only fits 9 inch diameter fan blades, and your blade is 2 4or 36 inches long.
The balancer may have to fit a certain diameter hole at the center
of the fan blade. When you finally find out which side of the fan blade is heavy, you have to grind , with an electric grinding wheel, some material off the heavy side of the blade so that it is the same wieght as the light side of the blade.
Try to imagine a cone shaped center[like step drills] like the capital letter V ,only up side down, so that the point is up. ON the underside of the inverted V is a needle tiped post that upside down V can pivot in any direction on. The hole in the middle of a lawnmower blade is centered somewheres on the outside of the inverted V, depending on the diameter of the hole in the lawnmower blade. The heavy side of the mower blade will go down and may touch the level asphault or the table top, depending on where you placed the balancing fixture. THen i would grind off metal until the heavy side can up to be level with the light side of the mower blade and it was considered balanced.
an appliance repair parts store may sell fan balancers, but if the would fit your cieling fan, better ask before you waiste your money on something that wont work for what you want.

Try calling up customer service of the manufacturor of your ceiling fan and ask about repair service for your brand fan.
see what repair service has to say, im sure many others have asked them about wobbling fans.
so they should have all the answers down pat.
Two more thoughts.
1.
.MAKE SURE ALL SCREWS THAT HOLD FAN BLADES ON TO THE HUB ARE THERE AND are TIGHT. one loose fan blade mounting screw or one missing fan blade screw will unbalance the whole thing and cause wobble.
2. the fan motor shaft bearing could be worn out or round or even egg shaped. If this is the cause, the motor must be diaassembled and new fan shaft bearings installed or the fan motor must be replaced.

good luck and have fun!

The fan doesnt work

and nothing is there a fan motor available.

Did you mean " and nowheres is their a fan motor available"???

THat leaves you with 4 options.
1. prehaps the switch to the fan is not giving the fan any electricity when you turn the switch 'on'
2. prehaps there is a bad wiring connection to the fan and the repair is as simple as fixing the supply wiring.
You need to make sure that the fan is getting electricity before saying ,I have a bad motor. You could have a bad on/off switch or wiring to the switch or to the fan.
if you do have electricity going into the fan motor.
1. disassemble , repair, and reassemble the fan motor. That assumes that you can get repair parts and already know how to fix cieling fan motors or can even find a ceiling fan repairman.
I think cieling fan repair is a decesed industry[the job died because of lack of customers] like tv repair and microwave repaair, dead professions.
Many things from china are made as one shots[if they done work on the first shot, they never will because there are no replacement parts available in the usa. You have to fly to china to buy parts.
2. buy a new cieling fan from amazon.com

Whirlpool eet171pk relay switch

do you mean the compressor won't start and you hear a clicking sound every few minutes?if so most likely the start device on the compressor is bad,you have to send the model number off of the machine,if it's a bottom mount or side by side, open the fridge door and look on the right side wall up near cieling and you'll see a tag with model and serial numbers,if the freezer is a top mount open the fridge door and look on the left side wall up near cieling and send model number so someone can look up your machine.have you vacuumed out the coil,if the coil is filled with dust the machine will run hotter than normal and can damage the start device and the compressor.

I have a hampton bay ac 552 cieling fan and the owner cut the wires, what wires goes to the fan and what goes to the lig hts.,black, white are coming from cieling in the fan above lighting wires...

Hampton Bay makes fans for HomeDepot. I would check with them or call 1(800) 654-0688 to try to get the information from the fan manufacturer. You need to find the UPC number which is located on a label on the top of the fan(body). I had a hard time making the numbers, but gat a camera and took a close up picture, but your is probably not mounted. The HomeDepot will help you find out the maker of your fan.(they have many makers so it is important to have the UPC no.)

I purchased a Turn of the Century 52 inch remote ceiling fan, model 355-6786/6787/6788. After installing it I couldn't get the high speed button on the remote to activate the high speed on the fan. All...

I purchased a 'Turn of the Century-Apollo' model 355-6786 cieling fan. The only problem is no fan blade mounting bolts and nuts, instead I have 2 packs of mounting screws. I've dialed the Customer Service Department to no avail. Is there an unpublished WEB site?

No instructions for my 52" Aloha Housewares fan?

i have installed these so i can walk you through it. first if it has already been wired (properly). a wall switch or string will operate it. i suspect you should begin assembly on the floor. then acquire a sufficiently tall ladder. then hang it from the cieling. then connect the wires. then secure it to the cieling. Where do i put remote reciever for fan install.

I'm not completely sure what the fan mounting bracket (that screws to the electrical box) looks like on this model, and I'm not sure what type of remote you have, but remote receivers usually slide in between the ceiling and that bracket (slide in with antenna wire first). Or the other type goes inside the very bottom of the fan, the part where a light kit gets attached (these receivers look like a donut).

Optoma projecter

It is most likely getting too hot.

Make sure all the fans are clean. Make sure the projector is not mounted too close to the cieling. This may block vents in the housing.

If you have to, you may need to mount a small fan near the projector to blow into the vents. Make sure it blows in the right direction. You don't want it working against the fans inside the projector.

Just for a test, unmount the projector and run it on a table. This should tell you if the mount on the ceiling is causing the problem.
