I replaced the inlet valve and it still does not want to work. The drain pump comes on and then nothing... I did however realize that when the door of the washer is open it still operates... and will be replacing this asap, but as for the IE error any suggestions will be appreciated.
When this happened to my 12 year old dishwasher, I take out the filter at the base of washer, and using a cup, drain excess water. Add the cheapest VINEGAR to the base, screw the filter back in. Wait a few hours for the vinegar to do its magic, hey presto! the machine works again. I'm ready to buy another, newer model, but this trick works everytime! Sometimes, I don't even empty all that fluid out, but just add that Vinegar. Hope this solves your problem too. Havagreatday!

a pressure sensitive dome is common on some units. as pressure builds, an air switch is activated.
otherwise there has to be a water contact switch.
the air switch dome can be located near the pump under the unit.
good luck

SOURCE: E1 error on LG dishwasher
As per my email reply chazmano5, the problem is likely to be the water pump/motor assy.
They have a very common fault of the impeller breaking on the motor shaft. The motor still spins, but the impeller doesn't, so there is no water being pumped.
The machine senses there is no water pressure and shuts down, displaying E1 (eg: it thinks no water pressure means there must be a water leak) Unfortunately the motor/impeller is only available as a complete assembly.

It sounds like the flood switch in the bottom of the washer is activated. check for water in the base as the machine if maybe leaking. This is a Dishwasher?
SOURCE: LG Dishwasher LDS5811ST 1E error code
I had a LG certified repairman come out and fix. The electrical wires within the door were melted into the "tar" (sound deafening spray) and one wire actualy sheered. Apparently the drying cycle heats the tar and the wires become embeded and melt into the tar. This is what was causing the error code. After the wire was tested and spliced everything worked great. Long term...The door/electrical harness was replaced by LG.
If you are getting a IE or similar error on your LG dishwasher and have not been able to solve the problem using information based on that code, check the serial number of the dishwasher. If the first three numbers are between 501 and 702 you may have this problem:
The black mastic sound insulation material inside the dishwasher door can soften from the heat inside the dishwasher, allowing the wires inside the door to become embedded in it. If this has happened, the insulation on the wires can soften and begin to dissolve, resulting in shorted or broken wires. This may cause various error codes which may send you on a wild goose chase.
Take the screws out of the door and inspect the black insulation and the wires. If any wires are embedded in the black mastic, you may cut them and bypass them with a new section of wire, then make sure to add an insulating material to separate the wires from contacting the black mastic. In severe cases, the inner door panel must be replaced (they no longer use that type of mastic) and the wiring harness for the dishwasher would also be replaced. (a set of all the wires and plugs).
Hi
Error
code IE on LG dishwasher means Inlet error. This error comes up when the Water
Supply Tap is closed or Water Supply is shut off. If water supply is turned on
then make sure that the Inlet Hose is not kinked and water Pressure is not low
(should be above 10 psi). Next thing to check for is Water Inlet Valve, measure
the electric resistance of Inlet Valve. (950-1300 ohms) Make sure the filter of
Inlet Valve is not clogged.
Hope this helps... Please post back
for further assistance.
