When connecting with external audio equippment, such as amplifiers or speakers, turn off the TV speakers. In order to do so, press the MENU button and use up and down arrows to select AUDIO menu. Press the right arrow button and then use up /down button to select TV Speaker. Then press the right arrow button and then use up/down to select Off. Then press EXIT. Assuming your external surround system has optical cable input, connect one end of an optical cable to the TV Digital Audio Optical Output port (it says digital audio out - Optical). Connect the other end of the optical cable to the digital audio equipment. It should work. If it soesn't, check your external system manual to make sure it is set properly.

Depends on your external sound system... If it supports HDMI, then just connect an HDMI lead between the TV and the external amp. If you don't have HDMI, look for two RCA/Phono connectors (small circular connectors) on the back of the TV (should be coloured red & white) and connect these to the external sound system. Finally, if you don't have either of these look for a 32 pin scart socket (rectangular with a bit sticking out) and get a scart to phone cable. Plug the scart plug into the TV and connect the Red & White output leads to your external system - hope that helps :-)

SOURCE: Ref LG 42PG6900. The audio from the HDD does not output to scart

The 5.1 Dolby Digital is only on the TOS link!
Same as the SKY box. God knows why!

SOURCE: LG tv sound quit - will it work if I add external speaker system

Maybe!! It depends on where the audio sys failed. If it failed at the output drive, then you can take the audio off at the audio output jack and input it to your stereo system where there is an audio input. You'll need a cable with RCA jacks on it for this.
If your system is muted for some reason, this may not work.

No volume

Things to check,

1. are you using an external cable/satellite box.
if the answer is yes , verify if you have the audio out of the reciver connected to a surround sound system
If you do have it connected to a surround sound system , verify the surround sound systems volume is up and on the correct source input on the surround sound system

2. if you do not have a external cable/satellite box and and or your not using a surround sound system, and the cable line is connected directly to the television via a coax cable.. then verify that in the audio settings configuration of the telivision you have not accidentally disabled the internal speakers, some tvs have this option , please consult your manual.

Sound changed

I would first go into your audio menu and make sure the correct settings haven't been changed, also the variable or fixed output is on fixed.
Does your set have the external surround sound speakers for the rear or are you using an external surround sound audio system?
