Take one co-axial cable, and connect the "input" port to your cable-company's wall-port.
Look at the connectors on the back of your TV. You could have:
* coaxial input (lowest video-quality)
* S-Video input (better video-quality)
* component input - three cables for video, two cables for audio (better video-quality)
* HDMI input (highest video-quality)
Look at the connectors on the "output" side of the PVR. You could have:
* coaxial output (lowest video-quality)
* S-Video output (better video-quality)
* component output - three cables for video, two cables for audio (better video-quality)
* HDMI output (highest video-quality)
Connect the "outputs" to the "inputs", using appropriate cables.
Turn the PVR on. Turn the TV on.
Use the "source" button on the TV's remote-control to select from the various inputs
(Coax, S-Video, Component, HDMI1, HDMI2).
If your TV has 'PIP' ("Picture-In-Picture") capability, connect more than one output to a second input, so that both tuners inside your TV will receive a signal.
Hi cathie
If you have sound it means that the tv is in aux/video mode.
Now make sure that the video output of the vcr is connected to the same aux/video input that has the sound connected to. i.e input 1 or 2 .
Also you want to try and switch with another cable to make sure that the cable you are using now is o.k.
Another way to try the tv input would be to connect something else in that input(cable box ,dvd ,video game etc,)
Try it and let me know.
This receiver has only one HDMI output, but 4 HDMI inputs. If some inputs don't work, try connecting the equipment (DVD for example) to HDMI input which works with other equipment.... For the RCA (composite) video input - it won't work, because this receiver don't have any video processing circuit. So HDMI input video goes to HDMI outout connector. Composite (RCA) video input goes to Composite outout and no other video output. S-video input goes only to s-video output.
audio input is sound like a microphone, mp3 player, cd player. Video input is dvd ,movie or other video input- Input is incomming to the computer. Like a hardware connection for physical download.
