Will zone 2 dvd's work on a playstation 3 purchased in australia?

DVD drives in PS3 are not Multi Zone drives. there is no solution for your ? besides to by the game from some where in New Zealand.

There are 2 different laser for the ps3's blue ray drive. Part #'s
Kem-400A and Kem-410ACA. Cleaning your laser may work, but in the end you'll probably need to purchase a new laser.

hi , i hate to say this but you need to do this asap. Call the playstation support line and send it in. your ps3 is experience a corrupted hard drive. This will only get worse and will eventually shut down for good.

Yes. Blu-ray region 2 is European, which means it will work on the Australian consoles.

For Games... PS3 is region free, for DVDs Movies or other, region code is 5 for INDIA, also to make region free, get the region code converted to 0.

Most (I say about 90%) of Bluray games are region free. Which means they will play on any PS3. However, sometimes updates or extra content, can cause problems. Because you have to get the updates from the region in which the game is from.

As for Blurays, some are region free and some aren't Hollywood is a lot more picky about copyright. I have heard that most are region free, and have also heard that they are the same as DVD. So don't have a direct answer for you regards to Bluray.
