This may help with part of your problem, but if you want to water manually (overriding the program) and you press the manual button, the water will stay on for only half an hour, so to continue you need to simply hit the manual button again. The 'shutoff' after half an hour is automatic.

I have the same problem. Good to know on the 1/2hr shutoff. I guess it is going back to the store. I'd say this is not a good timer. I bought a nice one with more options for things like skipping days, multiple times per day. This one is not only low tech, but it doesn't work. Nice job!

I have 5 of them and they are all doing the same thing, great product until the batteries die then it is junk. And try and call to get anyone to take care of it. Good luck.

I have a Vigoro 4 zone water timer, and the battery housing was lost. Is there anywhere one can find those? I've search the internet with no luck

It looks like Vigoro does not sell replacement battery housings for their water timers. You may want to check with local stores or online retailers to see if they have the battery housing in stock, as well as third-party suppliers. Alternatively, you could consider investing in a new water timer with a different design that does not require a battery housing.

I changed the battery on my Vigoro water meter but the numbers no longer appear on the screen; what can I do?

Clean battery terminals.
Reset timer, and see if functionality is restored.
Some timers go bad when battery is replaced. For example that is frequent complaint with Intermatic ST01C, etc.

SunSmart 15312 - timer has power and will turn lights on/off manually but will not turn on/off automatically after setting program.

Sun Smart is new GE timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15312

There is no repair for defective timer, except buy another at Home Depot and return defect in new package.
When I bought 15312 timer for testing, I found many packages at Home Depot were taped together as if people returned the timer. The large aluminum fin shows that timer is expected to get warm.
When testing the timer, the door stuck, and the timer seemed cheaply made. Intermatic brand timers are more robust at this time.
The instruction manual is not clearly written as could be, and timer requires a lot of button pushes for each setting.

Because the instruction manual is complex, requiring multiple button pushes for each setting, I suggest writing out the steps to make sure nothing is skipped over.

If lights turn on-off with override, then timer should be wired correctly.
Be sure to reset timer before programming.
Press setup button twice to begin programming.
Check programming for conflicts and overlaps that will cause timer not to function as expected.
For example selecting days of week. If program1 ON says turn on at 7:00 pm all days of week, and program1 OFF says off at 9:00 pm Tuesday.
Another point of confusion is Dawn-Dusk-Time. If you want timer to turn ON at 7:00, then select Time.

We have a Vigoro Two Zone Water Timer. The timer started beeping and flashing that the batteries are low. We put new batteries in and it is still beeping and flashing low battery. What do we do now?

The timer is no good.
1) Clean battery terminals and make sure battery polarity is correct.

2) If you bought timer at Home Depot, call:
Internet Customer Service Center at 1-800-435-4654

3) If you live near Home Depot, then buy new timer and return defect timer in new package.

4) Here's what Home Depot customers say about this timer: the product will fail after 4 months, only worked one season, failed right out of box, new batteries did not restore functionality, etc. Only two good reviews.

I have the Vigoro (196-036)/Melnor water timer. I bought it last year to replace a different model. I replaced the battery and set the program this year, but the program isn't working. I can use it...

At the
Bottom right there is a button to turn the program on and off. Make sure you have it on. I think a black little
Bar shows if it is on.

I have a new Nordik digital indoor timer TD133B. It has never displayed information on it's screen. The instruction manual indicates plugging it in for an hour to charge the battery. I did this but still...

Most plug-in timers have rechargeable battery that is not replaceable.
Instructions say: Plug in timer for hour and then unplug it to set programs.
Intermatic makes a couple plug-in outdoor timers with replaceable batteries that load from back of timer, but otherwise batteries are rechargeable.
If battery will not charge, then display doesn't show, and that signals the timer is no good.
Take timer back if you can, and exchange for another.

I was looking at timers in Walmart and Target yesterday (since my specialty, and interest is timers).
New plug-in timers are inexpensive.
Lowes and Home Depot also carry inexpensive plug-in timers.

Be sure to save timer instructions because generally, store-bought timer brands don't show manuals on-line. Except GE brand timers from Home Depot.

Vigoro water timer problems

I also had this problem and found that the water pressure was too high. I turned the water spicket down one a a half turns (yours may vary) and now it's working fine.
