Sounds like you need to send it in for repair. I had sent my console to VideoGame911.com and they repaired mine at a great cost and got it back at the end of the week. Give them a try, they are cheaper than a manufacturer. Good luck!
The bottom screen flashes an then the green light goes off new top screen is needed very common on ds lite i repair them for a living an can sort yours for about 18 quid Simon Dsdoc
Hi the solution to your problem is
A failed top screen the ribbon had gone
The green light comes on screen flashes an then goes off
I repair nintendo ds lites in the uk
So can sort you out for a reasonable price
It's all to do with the top screen... What happens is that when you turn the DS lite on it performs a quick check on the screens to make sure they are connected properly, if one or both are not connected properly then the unit will shut down. The flashing of the screen shows you that that particular screen is fine whereas the one that does nothing is not connected properly, either through a loose connection or faulty screen/ ribbon.
Your best bet is to buy a new top screen (I usually get mine from ebay for around £10-£12) and fit it. That should sort out your issue.

Try removing the motherboard from the screens and attach the battery the green light should turn on and stay on.
Now attach the lower screen and turn on. If the screen is ok the screen and green light will flash and then turn off. (if the screen doesn't flash the bottom screen is you're problem and will have to be replaced)
If this happens the problem is then you're top screen which you will have to replace.
The alarm is just a coincidence i suspect, green light comes on and stays on probably not the battery at fault. It would be red. If the green light goes out and screens just flash one of your screens are at fault or a loose ribbon connection.
yes it is fixable sounds like your fault is with the top screen are the hinges ok has it been dropped.
most green light and screen flashes point to a defective screen or connection on the mother board or sometimes fuses. id start with checking the motherboard connection if its ok check the fuses if all is ok buy a new top screen and replace it.
Check L2 near the power switch on your DS mobo. That part usually get loosen or taken out when you drop your DS. And usually you can recover it when dismantling your DS.
Was the DS dropped? Sounds like the top screen ribbon has become disconnected from the motherboard, or is broke. You may have to replace the top lcd screen.
My kids did the same thing. What I did to get it to work was to push back on the top and hold it turn it on. If it comes on then turns off after you let it go get 2 rubber bands and put the 1st. one on the top left down to the bottom right. The 2nd. one goes from the top right right to the bottom left. Then keep turning it on while moving the top to find the sweet spot.
