Setting cannon Even on the L setting my camera's jpeg files are on average only 2.5 mb. Surely the files should be bigger? The manuals tells me they could be up to 18mb. Why so small?

When you choose quality L, but with the stairs logo, not the quarter circle, the fame size will be around 3.3 mb on average for the jpg files.
Only when you select RAW or RAW + JPEG you get the big files. (Up to 25 MB + 6 MB)
Everything about the image-recording quality settings can be found on page 61 of the manual.

My jpeg files stored in Olympus Master 2 and Olympus Viewer 3 file management software will not display pictues to prevue or edit. The JPEG files show the same MB size in properties I don't believe

Both are just the programs to put the pictures on the computer and edit the pictures. The pictures should be on the computer.
Try to find the folders, where the programmes did store the jpegs. Or if you shoot RAW, also the RAW files.
Copy all the pictures in these folders to a different drive. The best is an external USB drive. Only after you are sure you did copy (do NOT MOVE the pictures but COPY because move will delete the originals) all the pictures to a safe place, start finding out, what could be wrong with the Olympus software.

For lots of camera's you can chose same file size, but you are right I would not trust that.
Even when you have a very good computer, with a very good hard drive, please do make backups regularly. And actually one backup is no backup. Always try to have two backups on two different media.

I have a datatraveler 4gb stick how many photo will it hold

That is not exactly to calculate. It depends on the stored image sizeand quality.
Small pictures could be 400KB a piece, but large ones easily can go up to 6GB
a piece. If you know thye avaerage size of your pictures, you can calculate it.

What size memory card does the kodak easyshare cx6200 take?

The internal memory for this camera is 8 MB.

The manual indicates using memory cards of size 8 to 128 MB, so this is an early SD memory camera, following the original SD standard. Do not try SDHC or SDXC cards. The camera will support a 1 GB card. It *might* support a 2 or 4 GB card, but since this is a 2 Mpixel camera, a 512 MB or 1 GB card will allow you to save thousands of jpeg format pictures.

Will a SD 2gb memory card work in my hp 620 digital camera?

Yes, any Secure Digital (SD) memory card can be put into your hp Photosmart 620 camera safely. I would not go any bigger than 4 GB due to the limitations of some computers that you may use to download and process your photographs. And, you probably will want to pull off the phototgraphs and put them onto your computer for long term storage or for printing. That camera normally makes about a 1 Mb file for a JPEG image file. It will take a long time for you to fill up a 2 GB card; around 2,000 photographs.

10 out of 200 JPEG files burnt to CD aren't viewable on DVD playe

are all the files the same extension? JPEG and JPG are different as far as how they are encoded? even if you NAME THEM .JPG or .JPEG it is the encoding method you choose to export them as that makes the difference. As in Coreldraw for example. They is a JPEG and JPG export filter.

Size of JPEG file produced by this camera

the general rule is a jpeg is halve the mb of the resolution-6 mp =3mb file size-kodak uses a ton of compression and this is the main reason why-put a memory card in a kodak and you pick up about 20-30% more capacity than other brands!

Problem with JPEG compression?

think what is happening is that Pentax is not using the maximum JPEG quality value for their high quality setting. I re-saved an image in Photoshop last night, and the JPEG quality value was set to 9. I increased it to 12, and ended up with a 3.5 MB file.
