SOURCE: Mitsubishi TV had horizontal lines across the screen and rolls up

Answer
ONE: Yes, the speaker mounted close/near to the set can be a cause of mischief; please move it further away and see if that helps clear up the problem. But, you must keep it away for several days before you will know for sure because it takes some time to degauss all the internal parts that may have become corrupted by the magnets in the speaker.

TWO: Yes, any set can be repaired the question is cost and wisdom. Old sets are sometimes not worthy of the repair simply because of the likelyhood that another failure will follow soon after. A big screen always invokes a repair charge of $200 and up. After a few of these you will wish you had put all the money into a new set!

THREE: The lines are most likely a problem in the vertical blanking circuits of the set. These are horizontal retrace lines that are supposed to be blanked out during vertical retrace of the raster. Think of it as a paintbrush that scans across the screen painting thin lines and when you get to the bottom of the screen it goes quickly back to the top, but during that time the horizontal, which is many times faster, has made several sweeps; so it must be blanked out during the retrace. The repair involves finding the guilty parts and replacing them. Usually this repair runs over the $200 somewhat.

FOUR: Prior to calling in a service tech try a hard reset to see if that will recover any of the circuit degradations. Merely unplug the power cord and leave unplugged for 4 hours or more. It may help. Or, it may not help; but worth a try since is won't cost you anything.

If the set is over 5 or 6 years of age it probably is not a condidate for any expensive repair. On the other hand, it is a Toshiba - and they make a fine set.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have further thoughts.

SOURCE: My mitsubishi 65-inch dlp tv

It's either mirror hinge fatigue or dust on the inside.
Mirror hinge fatigue can be fixed by putting a solid color picture (white or gray works best from what I understand) on the display and letting it sit for 20 minutes.
If it's dust, someone is going to have to go in there and clean it out.
Also could be a defective micromirror device.
Try the first suggestion and if it doesn't work, you're going to need a technician to take a look at it.

I have horizontal lines over the whole tv,but the tv play you can see them good on some channels.Wat could be the problem?

There is mainly two reasons for this fault. The smoothing capacitor to video output supply voltage be bad, or the screen voltage to CRT is more than normal. These lines [thin horizontal lines runs across the screen; an inch apart or so to entire screen] is technically called 'vertical retrace lines' If you wish to get more details about this fault, check this site. It has details about it. Pull up older posts there.

Getting white spots on my mitsubishi wd-65733 65 inch dlp tv.What is causing it?.

Hi,all HDTV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board and also white spots.

A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times resetting the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens.

The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them.

Good luck.

I have an old 36 inch widescreen Philips CRT TV which has been working fine for 7 years until yesterday when the whole screen just went blue with a series of white horizontal lines. The audio is still OK...

Hello
Since there is a blue screen atleast, I don't think that the picture tube is gone. The fault may be either to its chroma IC or video output section. In both sections fault cases, this type of horizontal lines [parellel to each other at about 1 inch or so apart the entire screen] will be seen. Just check the voltages at the three cathode, ie, red, blue and green of the piclture tube. This can be measured at the picrture tube neck card. If you have through knoledge in electronics, have patience and enough tools to do the work, inform me through Fixya. Without these, you can't work on a tv, especially in Philips.
Otherwise, get it checked by any expereinced service technician. OK.

Kv-35xbr48 turns on fine nice picture then horizontal lines form distorting picture like interference also is the back hard to take off and put on needs a good vacum thanks for any suggestion

At first the picture is ok, and then distorted with horizontal lines i thinks. If the horzontal lines are parellel acros the screen, with an inch apart across the whole screen, your tv needs screen adjustments. Screen voltage may be high. look into the crt base also. Change it first. These also not resolve the problem, LOT may be faulty, with respect to screen focus pack. May need replacement. Try first setting screen voltage to a lower settings and observe.
