Will removing the CMOS battery clear the BIOS

bios password reset methods depend on model & how its designed,
in laptops cmos battery reset will not remove bios password.
you can reset bios passwords by:
1. Entering master password, if it shows password disabled with Error CODE after failed attemps,

2. shorting bios reset jumper located anywhere near the ram slots in motherboard
3. Re flashing the Bios Chip

Windows XP can cause blue screens on many occasions. Like ram failure, CMOS setting issues, OS problems or by any other Hard ware issues.
1. Make sure the bios settings are ok. It is always recommended if you can run your system with the default settings. To do this clear the CMOS by removing the battery and keep for around 1 minute. and put it back. (While this the power should be removed.) Now try and see if the problem is still go to step 2
2. Remove the RAM & Display cards and clean the contacts with a non dust eraser (dont use erasers with sand, old erasers as this might lead to worse problems.) Now try and see if the problem is still go to step 3.
3. Remove other cards and with out those cards check the problem is still there. Go to step 4 if the problem is still there. If its not there Clean the removed cards contacts with a eraser and fix the cards one by one and check.
4. Try installing OS.

If the problem is still it may be your hard disk, Motherboard or the processor. Better to check with a technician.

Not knowing your computer make and model makes it difficult to give you step by step directions, but the first thing you should try is to reset the bios to factory settings. You can do this by entering into the BIOS menu and look for something that says things like

reset to default, factory default, clear BIOS, load setup defaults

Doing this will clear your CMOS which may be all that you need to do.

Another issue with this error could be that the CMOS battery is bad. This battery is similar to a watch battery. Depending on your computer, you can open it and replace this battery.

If you have forgot BIOS password then you have to reset CMOS jumper setting. Please follow the below steps: Open the Laptop back panel. Locate the CMOS battrey, remove it & then with the help of a screw driver keep on pressing the terminal inside it and turn ON the computer for 10 secs and Turn Off (make sure you keep on pressing the terminal with a screwdriver while turning ON). It will clear the BIOS setting. Now, fix the CMOS battrey & restart the computer. This will take care of the issue.

Steps for Clearing BIOS Password Check

If users set BIOS Password (Supervisor Password and/or User Password) for a security reason, BIOS will ask
the password during systems POST or when systems enter to BIOS Setup menu. However, once it is
necessary to bypass the password check, users need to short the HW Gap to clear the password by the
following steps:
• Power Off a system, and remove HDD, AC and Battery from the machine.
• Open the back cover of the machine, and find out the HW Gap on M/B as picture.
• Use an electric conductivity tool to short the two points of the HW Gap.
• Plug in AC, keep the short condition on the HW Gap, and press Power Button to power on the
system till BIOS POST finish. Then remove the tool from the HW Gap.
• Restart system. Press F2 key to enter BIOS Setup menu.
• If there is no Password request, BIOS Password is cleared. Otherwise, please follow the steps and
try again.
NOTE: The steps are only for clearing BIOS Password (Supervisor Password and User Password).

Have you tried resetting the CMOS? Often, after upgrading BIOS you need to clear the CMOS and re-setup to handle the new features. You should have a jumper to clear CMOS, or you can remove the power from the system and remove the battery for a few seconds to clear it.

disconnect your laptop battery and, bios battery on the mother board wait 10 minutes plug the bios battery back in then; reboot without installing the laptop battery: your passwords will be removed

pl set cmos clear jumper on motherboard and power on your cmos password is disable.

The only way to clear the password in BIOS is to open the cover and take out the battery on the motherboard. It is not hard to find on the motherboard, it looks like a watch battery. Take it out, wait about 5 mintues. then put it back in and boot. That will clear the BIOS password.

do u know the password if not I think I know that screen it is the BIOS one you will need to ope up the machine and take he battery OUT for half hour or so then log on..........
