This sounds like the internet service is available because the internet light does come on but it sounds like the password is incorrect. i suggest you contact your ISP to confirm you access is ok

I HAVE A NEW HP DESKTOP AND AN OLD LINKSSY WIRELESS G

Hi Vivian,

Chweck you cables and where they are conencted.

You will need to make sure that the Comcast modem is providing internet, you can do this by connecting your laptop to it using ethernet directly if it connects to the internet, that will be a good thing.

From your comcast Modem, the ethernet Cable should go to the linksys where it says "WAN". this should give you an internet connection and make your comcast modem communicate with your linksys Router.

Are you trying to set up the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem

I went from a ATT dsl modem to a net gear modem and i cannot get the net ger mode and linksys mode to talk to the computer

Most DSL providers use PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) to establish Internet connections for end-users. To set up a Linksys router, you need to enable PPPoE on the router’s web-based setup page.
To setup a Linksys router with a DSL connection you need to perform four steps:
  1. Verifying Internet Connection
  2. Connecting the Devices Together
  3. Checking the LEDs
  4. Setting-up a DSL ISP on a Linksys Router
Verifying Internet Connection
Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If not, contact your Internet Service Provider.

My linksys wrt54GC stops working when connect internet cable

There might be a reason that the default gateway of your router and the internet are same.So first connect your router to any one of the computer and open the router page by typing 192.168.1.1 (username should be left blank and password-admin).Then on the basic setup page change the Local IP address to 10.10.10.1,scroll down and click save settings. Now power off your router and connect internet cable to internet port of the router.Switch on the power of router and now try to go online. If you are unable to go online then connect your computer directly to the modem and download the new firmware from www.linksys.com/support and connect your computer then to the router, upgrade the firmware of the router and try to go online by connecting internet cable.

hello roofmaster09, chances are you did everything correctly. Im not exaclty sure whats asking for a password. If your trying to access inside the router, you would want to follow these instructions.

Unable to connect to internet wirelessly, but i can use cable to connect then, it says the internet connect is linksys internet

Do you have a wireless card? Is it installed? linksys usually doesnt have many problems. Depending on what computer you have you might need to flick a switch or press a button somewhere to turn on your wireless nic. If you do have a wireless card look for some drivers online. I cant tell you too much without knowing what computer you have or how you have your router set up.

Im trying to connect to xboxlive.im connected to the internet,my xbox 360 keeps failing to update

It depends how you are connected to the internet an easy way that i did it with is by connecting it through my ethernet connection in the back of my computer then connecting through the internet with the blue USB cord that comes with your internet connection if you bought DSL. but if you have broadband there are a few ways if you have a linksys and your internet is traveling through there then you can just plug in the ethernet cable to one of the connection areas still available in the back of the linksys. Now trying to connect wireless to xbox live can be a little different and depending on the reason xbox live gives you for not being able to connect it could possibly be a problem with your computer but i can still help you with that so just post something else about it and tell me how it goes also if you get it working you should send me a friend request or tell me your name because i usually have around the max of a hundred friends so a friend request wont work.

My ps3 will not connect to my wireless internet

Try setting a static ip address on the PS3:-

First you need to find a Windows wired or wireless device already connected to the network in order to find out the required settings

Windows XP
1. Click start --> (sometimes settings) --> Control Panel --> Network Connections
2. Double click on the active connection which will say connected underneath
3. Click Support
4. Click Details
5. Now the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS and Alternate DNS which are displayed should be noted.

Windows Vista
1. Click Start --> Control Panel --> Network and Sharing Center
2. Click on "View Status" to the right of your connection
4. Click Details
5. Now the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS and Alternate DNS which are displayed should be noted.

Set these values under "manual settings" in the PS3 but add 1 to the last number for the IP Address as this has to be unique on your network
