No Hot Water

Hard water contains a lot of minerals and depending on how hard the water is also depends on how often you must replace the filters. A much better alternative is to have a water softener installed before your hot water heater and any other sorce of domestic water supplying your home. I have one and it works great. Just be advised that you will need to replace the salt crystals every couple of months depending on the time intervals you set the timer to. If you find that the water still remains soft after two months and your filters are not to badly clogged then you may try adding salt every three or four months and see if that solves your problem. You also have to remember that your also using the water for drinking cooking and bathing so softening your water supply is very important especially if you or anyone in your household ever had any kidney stones or kidney problems.

Good luck,

Adjusting Apollo hot water tank

I am not sure what you are asking, But i am going to assume that you want to know about changing the Temp on the heater for inside the house.
If the floor heat was installed properly than it should have a temperture manifold or adjustable thermostat for seperate heating.
You need to find the thermostat or manifold for the garage heat and set it at what ever temp you want the garage to stay at.
Then you can change the A B C knob to a higher setting A is cold B is warm ac is hot. So Increase your temp setting on the heater and this will increase your house water temp for hotter showers and faucet temps. However, they recommend not setting the temp above 120 degrees to prevent severe burns.
If you have a newer home increasing the Hot water heater temp setting may not change the temp at the shower or faucets if you have scald guard faucets installed in the house. This will require adjusting the scald guard valves on each faucet.
I recommend using a candy thermometer or digital thermometer to check the faucet and shower Temp prior to using them and make sure that you inform everyone in the house after you change the temp so that no one gets scalded.
I hope this answers you question, feel free to contact me if you need more help!

Water heater using too much electricity.

Check if the TP valve is running water, and replace TP valve. Check if there is water leak somewhere
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-replace-TP-valve.html
Replace both thermostats and both elements, and then keep temperature turned down.

I have a 40 gallon rheem water heater for a mobil home that is leaking from the top.

If water heater is leaking, then open following 2 links to avoid tank rupture and troubleshoot leak:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Emergency-steps-for-leaking-water-heater.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-is-leaking.html

Open following link if you want to install your own gas water heater:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-install-gas-water-heater.html

40 gallon electric heater at Lowes costs 207, and is easy do-it-yourself using same basic information shown in link above for installing gas heater, except less work.

To have gas water heater installed, can run $2-300 for installation plus cost of heater.
40 gallon natural gas water heater at Lowes starts at $300+, and tanks with longer warranty cost more and last longer.
Trailers require specific type of gas water heater, so be sure to request correct model.

If you maintain the tank: keep chemicals out of same room as gas water heater, attach bare copper ground wire between hot and cold pipes, flush tank each 6 months, clean gas burner each year as shown in manual, read the manual entirely for specific information about your model, and inspect/replace anode rod every 2-3 years then basic 6-year tank can last much longer.

I have a PowerStar model #44-557701 tankless hot water heater. When you turn on the hot water it starts to heat and then it just shuts off. My dad thinks it might have something to do with the flow sensor....

Open following link for Bosch tankless troubleshooting resources, including Bosch contact information, typical manuals, error codes, tech support, parts, fuel-saver calculator, service bulletins, water heater forum, fixya links, disclaimers, and links for finding service technician.

Read manual cover to cover, make sure tankless receives yearly maintenance as outline in manual.

Water is found leaking at the bottom of the tank, near the plastic cap, at the centre of the tank. What actually happens and how to resolve. The heater has been installed more than 5 years ago. From the...

A) Calculate date of water heater manufacture from serial number located on side of tank:
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/WaterHeaterSerialNumberDecoder.pdf
Date of manufacture is not date of installation.
Warranty is usually from date of manufacture
Serial number also shows tank size in gallons, tank volts and watts, and whether tank has 1 or 2 elements.

B) Troubleshoot leaking water heater:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-at-bottom-of-water-heater.html
Several things can be looked at to see where leak is coming from.
Carefully go over tank pipes and valves to eliminate every suspect.
Final suspect: tank is rusted out.

C) If tank is rusted out, then tank needs to be replaced before it ruptures.
Ruptured tank can cause major damage and water runs until shut off.
To prevent rupture, turn off power to heater, turn off valve located above tank, open tub faucet for a moment to relieve pressure on tank.
Turn on heater only when needed until new tank is installed.
4500 Watt water heater produces 21 gallons hot water per hour.
Shower uses 6-9 gallons hot water. Bath uses 12-14 gallons hot water.

"It is possible to limp along with a failed water heater if the leak is slow and if you turn off power and water when not using hot water. That trick could buy time, possibly up to 3 months. With time, you can consider how to make the system do more for less as well as comparison shop, get competitive bids, etc"

D) Now you're home is safe from damage.
If tank is only 5 years old, it rusted out pretty quick.

There are three things you can do so next heater lasts longer.

1) Learn about anode rods, and inspect anode rod every 1-3 years.
Loosen anode rod before installing new tank so replacement is easier.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Replace-anode-rod.html

2) Attach electrical ground wire between hot and cold pipes to prevent stray current from reducing life of water heater
http://waterheatertimer.org/9-ways-to-save-with-water-heater.html#straycurrent

3) Flush tank each 6 months to prevent sediment

I have a Rheem 82v522 electric water heater I know I need to drain it once a year according to the technician that installed it. i do know how to do that but my question is that I have a rheem Rudd Therm...

I would not worry about draining it, but if you wanted to you turn the water off and open the hose bib at the bottom of the heater you will need to open some hot faucets so that air can get into the system.
you don't have to do anything with the therm guard

Get a electric water heater or not?

I'd stay with the boiler, electricity to heat water is very expensive. I would not bother with a timed shutoff for the reasons you said. The water will stay hot for some time.
