My bb 9720 key pad not working

A classic case of BB software that is corrupted. This sometimes happens due to viruses that were hiding inside a picture or song or video file. You need to have the blackberry "FLASHED" and reinstall the 9720 - OS Ver 7.1.0.1046. WARNING..this is not a DIY job. I do this for a living, but I am based in South Africa. Take the handset to a Cellphone Technician in your area. It is generally not expensive to reinstall the OS (operting system) then be sure to download and install a good free blackberry antivirus program from the Blackberry App World on your phone. Rather be safe than sorry.

Signal is not required to unlock a Blackberry 9720. All you need is a non accepted SIM card. Once you enter a non accepted SIM card in your Blackberry 9720, it would prompt you to enter an unlock code. 1 - Switch ON your Blackberry 9720 with your current network/service provider's SIM card.
2 - Using the menu go to Settings Menu -> SIM card and press select.
3 - While holding the SHIFT key, type mepd.(NOTE: You may not see any text appear on the screen while typing mepd)
4 - You should now see the five locking categories listed.
5 - While holding the SHIFT KEY, type mep2.(NOTE: You may not see any text appear on the screen while typing mep2).
6 - Release the shift key.
7 - You will now be prompted to enter the Network MEP code. (it will also state how many attempts left)
8 - Enter the Unlock Code.
9 - Enter Return/Enter.
10 - The Blackberry 9720 should then be unlocked.

try erasing it from your device before attempting to re-install it again

press the right convenience key

it will be the same id username and password you used on your previous bb

i had a similar problem before and it turned out on of the side buttons had jammed so it was doing all sorts of mad stuff. to fix this is just pulled the side panel off cleaned out any dirt/dust and made sure the button was pushing in and coming back out without obstruction. this sorted out my "possessed" blackbeery issue. hope it helps
