To lubricate a shredder, use some shredder lubricating oil which can be purchased at stationary shops or online. Get a piece of paper and run a line of the oil across the width of the paper at different heights then run the paper through the shredder, do this a couple of times as this should lubricate the mechanisms and the gear assembly.

I have an E350 with 3 point took up. Can't get the deck to drop. It has a shredder hooked up and it will raise it up and lower it a little but not far enough down to shred.

try spray silicon lubricant through the top of the paper shredder and also from underneath the machine.

most shredders have special paper that has lubricant in the paper and you have to buy it and run it through the machine after xxxx amount of paper shredding, i just use spray
BUT NEVER USE WD40 IT WILL GUM UP THE MACHINE

What lubricant do you use for a Staples SPL-XC240D and where do you lubricate it?

Staples actually sells shredder lubricant. It comes in a small squeeze bottle. You actually are lubricating the shredder teeth themselves to keep them sharp and prolonging their lifetime. You simply take a piece of paper you are about to shred, run a bead of the lubricant across the sheet and feed it into the shredder. Done!

My shredder squeaks when in use, does it need regular lubrication? If so, what do I use?

Visit the link below for various types of shredder oils.
http://www.factory-express.com/Shredder_Oil__Bags-2025.htm
Regular use of paper shredders creates paper dust that can dry out components, dull the blades, clog the machine and burn out the motor. However, with proper oiling and maintenance, a paper shredder can last for years.
Oiling a shredder can be accomplished using one of two quick methods. The paper method limits excess oil to the paper, reducing the chance of it splattering when you turn the machine back on. This method is more common than the second and can be used with all kinds of shredders. The paperless method may be less common, but it is just as effective at removing dust buildup from the blades of the shredder.
The Paper Method:1. Place a sheet of paper on or above a surface that will not be marred or damaged should you spill oil on it.2. Apply the oil to one side of the paper in a wide zigzag pattern across the whole face of the page to ensure sufficient coverage. Do not saturate the paper with oil.
3. Turn the shredder on and run the oiled piece of paper through the shredder. As the paper shreds, the oil that has been absorbed by the paper will lubricate the blades. The motion of the blades will distribute oil so the shredder continues to operate smoothly.
3. Feed a few more papers into the shredder to absorb residual oil from the cutting assembly. The Paperless Method:1. Set the shredder to manual mode so you can control the direction of the blades and the amount of time the blades are in motion.2. With the paper shredder turned off, squirt a solid line of oil into the paper entry lengthwise across the paper-shredder blades.
3. Start
the paper shredder in reverse, allowing it to run for 10 to 20 seconds before stopping the blades. This will evenly distribute the oil to all parts of the cutting assembly.
4. Return
the shredder to automatic mode. Then feed two or three sheets of paper into it to absorb the excess oil from the machine. Tip:
How often you should oil your paper shredder depends mostly on how much you use it. Office shredders that see heavy use every day will need to be oiled several times a week, while home machines used occasionally need be oiled only a few times a year. Cross-cut shredders will require more frequent oiling than other paper shredder varieties because they have more blades and create much more paper dust.
You can purchase a shredder lubricating oil from any major electronic or office supplies store or you can contact Royal customer service at 908-429-4357.

How to lubricate a Black & Decker Model BD-s600 paper shredder

    • 1 Turn the paper shredder off and unplug it.
    • 2 Clean out the paper shredder. Make sure the blades are free of paper bits and debris. Remove pieces of paper that are jammed around the blades.
    • 3 Spray the shredder oil through the blade opening or throat of the shredder. Spray it in a stream.
    • 4 Plug the shredder back in and switch the reverse button on. Then run it for 10 to 30 seconds in reverse to allow the blades to be saturated with shredder oil.
    • 5 Put the shredder in forward motion and let it run again to disperse the oil thoroughly to all areas of the cutting blades.
    • 6 Feed a couple pieces of paper through the blades to be shredded and absorb any extra shredding oil.

I have the CX6 shredder, the paper get jammed in the feed, can i oil the feed?

How to Oil a Paper Shredder shredder_oil.jpg Paper Shredder OilProper shredder maintenance is required by all paper shredder manufacturers to maintain warranty coverage. Perhaps the most effective way to care for your shredder is to oil the cutting heads regularly. Why should I Oil my Paper Shredder?

The frequency of shredder oil applications is determined by a number of factors. First of all cross cut shredders must be oiled more often than strip cut shredders do. A cross cut paper shredder will require regular applications of shredder oil while a strip cut can go for a longer period of time without decreased performance. Secondly, paper shredders that are used more will need more lubrication. A paper shredder under heavy usage will need oil about once every four hours, while one under normal use will only require oil once or twice a month. Most manufacturers recommend oiling the cutters once every 30 minutes of accumulative shredding, but an easy way to remember is just to oil your paper shredder every time you change the bag. The type of material as well as amounts fed at once can also effect performance and lead to the need for oil.

Directions
You should only use specifically designed shredder oil to oil your paper shredder. This oil is designed to lubricate precision heat treated shredder cylinders, and any other lubricant or oil will void the manufacturers warranty. So don't use WD-40 or the like to oil your paper shredder.

Shredder oil can come in both liquid and aerosol varieties. However, the most common is liquid shredder oil.

The first way to oil your shredder is to spray or squirt lubricant into the opening and onto the cutting heads. The oil is packaged in a squeeze bottle and is applied directly onto the cutting head in a fine stream. This is done through the paper entry throat. Take 1-2 seconds to oil from one side of the opening to the other. Turn the machine in reverse for about 10-15 seconds to allow the oil to transfer to all parts of the cutting head. The final step is to shred a few sheets of paper to remove any excess oil.

The other, and perhaps most common, way to oil your paper shredder is illustrated in the image above. Simply spread a small amount of shredder oil onto a piece of paper in a zig-zag type motion. Make sure that you spread the oil over the entire sheet. (NOTE: you don't need to soak the paper in oil, just ensure total and even coverage.) Feed this sheet through the shredder and then operate the machine in the reverse mode for a few seconds. This will make sure the oil is dispersed throughout the shredders cutting cylinders. The final step is to shred a few sheets of paper to remove any excess oil. You may want to repeat this procedure depending on the results, and is recommended for up to three applications to be assured of thorough oiling.

You should oil your cross cut shredder on a regular basis. If you are shredding a small quantity such as only 50 sheets a week or if you are using a small shredder, then you should oil your shredder every other day. If you are shredding a large quantity such as hundreds of sheets, then oil after 30 minutes of usage or after you empty the bag.

Start oiling your paper shredder now. The shredder will run smoother, faster, and put less strain on the overall motor, gears, and bearings.

Paper keep stopping.I have to turn off and on the power 2 or three times before I could complete just one page of paper. Thanks

Have you lubricated the shredder recently? You can get special sheets that lube the shredder by shredding them, or you can get special shredder lubricant at the office supply store, or you can just use vegetable oil.
