Why doesn't our printer take the refilled cartridges....."cannot recognize ink cartridges"?
Some refills do not have the same codes, I would suggest a different printer - HP laserjet is reliable - I only run Black and white - no colour - use to run colour - but the issue is that the different color cartridges dry at different rates and the printer ( I had a brother) stops working once one color gets low, and the other colors dry out in the interim - all at different rates - overall - VERY unreliable - as well - the number of times that I NEED color are conducive to going to a copy center and paying the 10$ instead of the 130$ for color rechages.

When you refill cartridges the chip on the cartridge has a code on it, the printer stores these codes so it knows the crtridge has been used.
you will need a chip reset tool to reset the chip, available from manufacturer or ebay (cheapest).
hope this helps
Do you have the correct ink cartridges, also make sure they are installed correctly if this all checks out then try to unplug printer for 30 seconds and then plug back in and let it restart

Hello,
You can purchase re-manufactured cartridges online from Re-Inks and Atlantic Inkjet. This is usually the easiest way to get them, if you refill them your self they have a better chance of leaking and ruining your printer.

there is a chip re-setter located just above the cartridges. it is actually a small button switch. if that does not work, try to remove the cartridges. just lift them (1 by 1) slightly then put it back again

Sounds like you have either a defective cartridge but if both cartridges are not being recognized it's likely a problem with the printer.
Take it back to the store you bought it from for a refund or replacement.

Try this: First check which cartridge(s) are not being recognized. In my case where I replaced all three color cartridges, two were recognized right away but one was not. You find out by sending a print request to the printer and looking at the ink cartridge levels diagram in the dialog window. In my case two of three were fine but one had a red X on it. So I removed it and cleaned the contacts with alcohol then rocked it in the slot after pressing it in. It was recognized and the charging process began as normal.

Epson Printers are sensitive in terms of Ink Cartridges.. The latest Epson Printers does not have ink reseter.. Ink reseter are already built-in on the ink cartridges.. The problem on this printer is when you have a cartridge on your printer, let say, 30% of the ink level, even though your ink is new, and you change it without using the right ink replacement method, it will recognize your ink as a 30% ink level. When your ink level drops to 0%, but you have remaining 70% of the ink, it does not recognize it anymore. The chip on the ink cartridge is already registered as an empty cartridge.
