"I found that Hills don't sell new line kits direct anymore, so I got some poly core line from Mitre 10, 60m for $30.

Study how the original line was strung through the clips and how it was tied at each end, and you will find that you have to remove 4 plastic wedges which secure the line in the end caps, these things

http://www.breezedryer.com/index.php?p=product&id=792

The wedge is not shown. You just push it out upwards. Then cut away and pull out the old line from all the clips, these things

http://www.breezedryer.com/index.php?p=product&id=741

Then tie the line onto one end cap as it was before, and restring the whole hoist. To get the line into the clips, you can carefully lever a bit with a screwdriver.

Don't worry too much about tension yet, just leave the line a bit slack on each run. You will have to pass the coil of line over the top of the arms many times. Finally cut it off after the final run, leaving enough line hanging down to secure the arms in a bunch when the hoist is folded up.

Make the final knot as it was, and then, without skewing the arms sideways, remove any slack going around and outwards, and finally pull in and tighten the final knot at the outer end, and replace the 4 wedges.

The line will stretch, so you may need this final step once more.

Restring hills rotary clothes line

To restring the Hills Everyday 37 rotary clothesline FD88010 you are going to need a couple of tools which include a small screw driver and a set of cutters to cut the new line cord.

You will also need to order a pack of line, which for this unit would need to be the 70m pack from Hills. Here is a link to the line pack you would need.

Here is a great video on the process to restring the Hills Everyday 37 rotary clothesline FD88010

If you need to access the Everyday 37 manual you can do so here and download it.

Hills line clips could be something that you may also need in the restring process as these do tend to break on the older models of this unit. Below is a link to the Hills line clips that fit the Hills Everyday 37 FD88010 model.

To remove the head to restring, push in the bumper cap/side tabs on the strimmer head, the top should then just pull off exposing the inner spool.

I'm just doing mine right now. What follows refers to the earlier folding hoist model Rotary 42, not the fixed wire line models, or the current Hills folding hoists with this type line anchor

The line is supposed to advance automatically, and mine did the first couple of times. But it no longer advances, and I have to take it apart and manually advance it.

Did you restring it? If so you may have crossed the line over itself too many times. Try to take all the line off and restring it again. Good luck...Lee

How do i restring the Ariens st 622 string trimmer

Cut two pieces of 18" commercial grade line - one to mount on each side. Look at the series of holes, two on bottom of rotating head, two immediately above but on outer lip of plate. Go up through the bottom two holes, even up your piece of line (like when you are putting in a new shoe string in a pair of shoes) and cross over then out through the top two. All done. If you are using an adequate grade of commercial line you can trim for hours over the roughest of stuff without worrying about restringing.
