You can select the ringer volume to HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW or OFF on the handset and the base unit separately. The factory preset is HIGH. If set to
OFF, the unit will not ring for external calls and will ring at the LOW level for intercom calls.
1. Does the phone dial out ?
If yes go to next question. If No check line.
2. Do the displays flash when the call comes in ?
If yes go to next question. If No check line.
3. Is the volume setting too low.

Problem is you can't get anyone from Panasonic to assist. I've tried calling, I've tried emailing and I've sent a letter and there has been NO response. Now, I'm forced to buy another machine and I'm not sure which one to get but I can assure you it will NOT be a Panasonic.
I am having the same trouble, I thought it was the battery as well, because it was working fine for a long while. Then one day I switched rooms and I could barely hear out the phone. Even after putting the phone back, it just had no volume. The manual has no solution for anything like this, and Panasonic wants to charge you just to answer a question. Looks like a new machine is needed and like you, it will not be Panasonic.
