Will not power on, red light flashing six times

tv will not turn on, red flashing light comes then turns off.
light flashes six times.

This set has pico fuses on convergence board and also on G power board, there should be 2 5 amp pico fuses on power board.

If convergence is bad exactly as before double check the power board fuses and check to see if voltage (it is marked!) is there with power board disconnected from chassis..

Check fuses on power/delection board. Besides normal looking fuses there are micro fuses that are small and are yellow or blue in colour

Six flashes of the Red Stand By Light means the +5V line is probably shorted on the A or B board. Could also be an overload. Replacement boards can be ordered here: http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/

Sony TVs generate an error code. The front panel LED (red) will flash anywhere from one to eight times which can isolate the problem circuit. It is not always accurate.

If you have a test meter which can read DC voltages and resistance in ohms, you can locate the problem area. If you lack the expertice to do so, contact a sony authorized servicer. If you have the ability, start by checking fuses on the "G" board ( power supply board) and the "D" board or deflection board.

A major problem area in this TV is the convergence circuit. There are six fuses around the convergence output ICs on the "D" board.

If any are open, replaces the output ICs.

A 6 flash shutdown can indicate power supply problems or an open thermal fuse. To be sure, you should have a technician verify your problem.

thats over current shutdown the +5 line is either overloade or shorted on the A and B boards. You will need to trouble shoot the +5volt line possibly a faulty regulator
