My Fantom Thunder was working great until the belt broke. I replaced the belt, but now I have no suction from the bottom or hose and no swirling in the bin. I have checked for clogs but I couldn't find any. Is there maybe a hidden place that might be clogged? I checked the filter, its fine. Removed the hose, nothing there. Turned the little knobs at the back. Cleaned off the brush. Checked the hole next behind the brush to make sure there was nothing in there. I am at a loss of what to do next. I can't really afford a new vacuum, so any advice on how to get this one to have suction again would be GREAT!

My Fantom has suction from the wand but not below. I can't find a clog anywhere and have cleaned all filters. Any ideas?

I had the same "no suction" problem. The cause was the o-ring at the top of the removable canister fell off (probably ended up in the garbage while emptying it). I haven't been able to locate a replacement so I encircled the top of the canister with duct tape. Problem solved.

Most "no suction" problems are caused by blockages in the hoses, floor tools and dirty filters. Firstly remove hose from where it attaches onto the vacuum cleaner. Put your hand over the suction hole and feel for suction. If no suction remove the brush from the floor tool and check the intake. If you have removed covers, ensure that the motor seals go back in place or you will lose all suction.

Where can I find a user's manual for my Fantom Thunder vaccum model #12052 00?

All manuals are free if they are available. Your make model seems incomplete, I see Euro-Pro and Shark in the results. The search query for this is just three words;

My fantom thunder vacuum runs great but isn't picking up wand has no suction

It could be one or more problems. The filter is likely clogged. It should be replaced at least once per year if you can find one. Clogged filters greatly reduce airflow which will cause dirt and debris to build up in other areas of the vacuum eventually causing it to have no suction. If you get the suction working make sure to install a new belt if using it on carpeted floors.

The manual for the Fantom Thunder is available here: http://www.heparrest.net/Fantom_Thunder.pdf . If this direct link doesn't work, start here: http://www.heparrest.net/SuggestedMaintenance.html and scroll down to the Fantom Thunder.

I hope this helps.

I was give a Fantom Thunder Vacuum cleaner from a friend it has lost suction and is whistling how to a get it working right?

You may have a plugged filter. If it has a rotating bar at the floor it may be plugged with hair etc..

Sweeper belt

Greetings from GoVacuum.com,

Have you replaced the belt with a new one yet? You may want to try replacing the belt, as with flat belts like the Fantom Thunder, they do stretch out 4 -5 inches after time. We in fact recommended replacing a flat belt every year, even if the belt doesn't break, because of the stretching. I think what may have happened, is that your belt is stretched to the point where it will not stay on the pulley as soon as there is any tension (putting the brushes on carpeting), which will cause the belt just to slip off.

You should be able to replace the belt (very inexpensive, we sell Fantom belt for $2) and this should take care of the problem. When you replace the belt, you should also take the roller brush apart and remove any hair, or thread that may be wrapped around the bearings. You should be able to remove the bearing cap by pulling them, or holding one end, and unscrewing the other.

I'd even be willing to send you a free Fantom Thunder belt, if you'd be so kind to vote Fixya for this answer :-) Just send me an email with your name, address, and the exact model number (located on the back of the machine, or the bottom of it) of your vacuum, and vote Fixya, I'll immediately ship you the belt for free!

Please let me know if you have any other questions I can help you with.

Fantom fury vacuum

HOW DO I CHANGE THE BELT ON THE FANTOM® THUNDER® AND FURY®? a.gif fantombeltchange1.jpg
fantombeltchange2.jpg
fantombeltchange3.jpg
  1. Unplug the machine.
  2. From the front of the machine, remove the collection bin.
  3. Facing the back of your vacuum, remove each of the Philips head screws located above each of the rear wheels. (Figure 1)
  4. To remove the base cover, place your thumbs in the two screw holes in the back of the machine. Push forward and up on the screw holes to disengage the 3 cover locking tabs. Put the cover off to one side, and go to the front of the machine. (Figure 2)
  5. Check the drive arm for any black streaks which indicate residual rubber from the last belt. The drive arm is located on the right side of the motor. The easiest way to remove any residual rubber is with some nail polish remover on a rag or with steel wool.
  6. To attach a new belt, remove the brush from the base of the machine by pulling up straight up with two hands.
  7. Take the new belt and hook it over the steel drive arm. Pull back on the belt slightly, to create some tension.
  8. Put the brush inside the belt loop so that the track for the belt is aligned with the belt itself.
  9. Replace the brush by aligning the metal end so the points face downward. (Figure 3)
  10. Rotate the brush by hand to check that the belt is running freely and easily in its designated space between the bristle.
  11. Replace the cover by placing the nose in first. Once in place fasten with the two cover screws and then replace the collection bin.

On my fantom cylone I use a 2 foot wire with small hook. Open bottom and push wire up the vacuum channels. There is also a channel that goes to the brush. Check for suction at hose. If none then your one of your channels going up are blocked. If you have suction at hose but none at floor brush then channel to floor brush is plugged.
