Your cats are just like most cats! They learn that the gravy is the yummiest, and simply stop eating the solid bits. Fussy babies they are! I totally recommend making your own gravy from the drippings of your own roasts, etc. Or buy off cuts from your butcher, put them in deep baking trays, add lots of water to the tray, cover with aluminium foil, and bake @ 120-150 degrees Celsius for about 2 hours, let the resulting liquid cool, and viola! You have exactly the same stuff the cat food companies call 'gravy'

SOURCE: All of a sudden my cat won't touch this food. he is 5 years old, and has been eating it with no problem. He usually bolts it down with no problems, but now the food remains in his dish for days an

If he's been eating this food in the past, is it a new bag? Maybe it's not fresh or this bag tastes a bit off? If the Vet didn't have any suggestions, I'd consider returning the bag to the pet store, explaining the situation, and trying another brand. If it isn't a health thing it's a mental thing, so maybe try wet food for a while and then ease him into a different dry food to see if that breaks the mental block that seems to be occurring?

Is dog food made from other dogs and cats

I don't think anyone can give a clear answer, but if it is used it would more likely turn up in cheaper products. It's probably wise to carefully read the ingredients and I'd be more concerned with toxins than anything else.
We have a cat that won't eat meat, only dried food and because he is so finicky we try to find food in which the first ingredient is chicken or meat rather than corn or any grain--which is not a natural food for them.

Is "Halal" meat safe for humans?

Hi, Carole. According to the Wiki article on Halal, it is an Arabic word meaning "permissible," referring to food, objects or actions. With respect to food it is similar in intent to the Hebrew word, "Kosher." In both Islam and Judaism, for example, pork is not considered permissible. There is much more to know about Halal, but I'll defer to our Islamic neighbors to answer more fully. Short answer: entirely safe. Enjoy!
