I have a normal hpm switch inside for my outside light. i often leave it on all night. i want to wire a neon to it to show the outside light is on. it only switches active. active is the only one available to me at the switch. if i put the neon in series the outside light doesnt glow only the neon. can i perhaps use a resistor? or do i have to run a neutral wire all the way from the neutral on the outside light back to the neon. this would be almost impossible as the wiring goes through solid concrete.

Switches with built in lights are available. They will 'glow' when the light is turned on. Check your local hardware store.

Low beams for normal night driving are not switching on

This is likely due to a dimmer control switch. put the lows on and wiggle the switch around and see if the lights flash on, if no then it can still be the switch.

Engine runs rough after a few miles

Easy way to check plugs wires while driving, get 4 or 6 small neon lamps depending on how many cylinders, the neon lamps used in appliances to show they are on are good NOT LEDs.
Remove resistors from neon and connect one side of neon lamps together and earth to body, take other side of each lamp and solder long single telephonr wire and wind about 10 turns around each plug wire insulation a little way from plug leave end of this wire disconnected. make sure the end of wire does not earth anywhere on body leave unconnected. the high voltage going through plug wire will induce enough voltage to fire neon and show plug works if one neon does not flicker as plug fires it the bad one.
This will only show electrical misfire not injector problem.
The best time to do this test is at night neons will flicker bright at night. As a mechanic how to check injector and injector voltage.

I have a 2001 dodge neon and my fuse keeps blowing ou.for my tailights and my inside lights, brake lights still work.i took it to a mechanic and by the time I get down the street.its blown.ive been reading...

fuses blowing that fast almost has to be a shorted positive wire. have you traced your wires to see if any have been compromised or maybe wore against the frame. it could also be a wire on the inside lights .. the door switches for inside lights used to be notorious for shorting out over time and causing this issue

Interior display wont turn off when keys are not in ignition and the car is locked up, so at night the display jus makes the inside of the car light up, is this normal or is it meant to shut off too?

make sure your interior light switch isn;t turned all the way up. this will leave your lights on all the time. if you look in your owners manual to see the switch location. please leave comment.

What is the wiring set up for the pilot to be on when light fixture is on and off when the fixture is off. it is currently wired as a night light and is on all the time

Hello,
If the wiring for the night light is internal then you can not change it...
If the wire is external then all you need to do is move the hot (black) wire that feeds the light from the black feed wire to the black wire that goes to your fixture so that it is now switched....

Need to replace the HPM dimmer switch with a normal switch

This is not a difficult job. First of all go out to a home depot or other hardware store and purchase one three way switch. They come in white, cream, and brown.

Back home, kill the power to the lights you are working on. Then open up the dimmer switch, the other switch doesnt need to be changed. Now, simply draw a diagram of where each wire color is now connected and remove the old dimmer. Reconnect the wires. Remember that the white wire goes on the dull color screw and the other two go on the brass screws. Turn the power back on.

If you do all this and the switch only works correctly part of the time just reverse the two wires on the bright brass screws. Please mark this answer as a fixya!
