I have just bought a vauxhall combo van 2004 and the engine light stays on. any addvice

A common fault with the 1700 engines is the airflow meter which is on the air intake, needs plugging into the an ECU diagnostics to check, shouldn't cost much to repair if it is that.

Removing a speed limiter from a vauxhall combo cdti van

The speed-limiter is likely to be enabled via the ECU. Removing the limiter is a five-minute job if you have access to the GM Tech 2 electronic management/diagnostic tool.

If the van is yours then there's no legal requirement for the limiter. You could just book it in at a Vauxhall dealer for the limiter to be removed. They may charge you for an hour's labour though. Still worth doing in my opinion.
